Horizons Finding Rare/Very Rare metals

Are the occurrence of metals random, or can you find certain metals more frequently in certain locations?

Probably unsurpringly, I'm looking for the usual suspects Yttrium, Polonium, and Technetium.

I understand these are in the "Very Rare" category, but I'm looking at loading the dice. :p

Does anyone know if it is possible, and willing to share? Thanks! [up]

Do you check your system map? It will tell you which materials can be found on the planet and what the % chance of finding them is.

Yes, but I don't see this info? For example, I see the description in the panel that says "gas giant" and explains if the rings are ice or rock, etc., but I hardly ever see the additional info.

For planets, I never see a description (except ice/rock).

Can you give me a step-by-step so I know if I'm missing something?

I click the tab with lines (textual information on selected body). I presume it should be there?

I'm carrying an ADS and DSS so when I fly there I should definitely have all the info, but I never see this detail for planets.

I used to see (for rings) things like "pristine", but it disappeared a while ago.

I just did some searching, and apparently it is a bug with the system map! :(

At least 2.2 is only a couple of days away! Hopefully it is fixed.

Here is a screenshot - you will need to scan the planet with a detailed surface scanner to get this information. If you have a detailed surface scanner installed - you just need to select the planet and fly towards it - the scan will begin as soon as you're close enough. Hope that helps...

Huh...! I don't think I've ever seen the bottom part with the break-down! Wow! I'll check here shortly and see if it appears!

Rep inbound! Thank you!
