Finding RES sites for bounty hunting

I was told to find HIGH RES sites for bounties. Im trying to get to a gas giant world with a nearby station. Problem is that I dont know how to approach the Ringed Planet without crashing or droppin out of warp speed or whatever. Im new so bear with me... LOL. What exactly am I looking for to target to get into the site? Like a Nav Beacon or something? So far im having no luck. Im going from the station to the planet and need to know how to get into the RES site. If im not being clear please let me know and I will attempt to explain it better. Thanks for any advice. Im loving this game and need a better ship than the Eagle Im in. MO MONEY!!! LOL

You target res sites like a station. Then you approach them as normal and drop when it says ready. It's best to fly above the rings while you approach the res site so that you don't get too close to the rings and drop out.

So when you get within 1000 LS of a ringed planet open the navigation window. If there are any res sites they will show there. Select one and then approach in the same way you would a space station.

Not all rings planets have RES sites.

As a newbie, I'd recommend starting in a Low or normal (no label) RES. As the targets are generally easier.

What system are you in? Maybe we can point you to a good one.
If you're anywhere near the starting area (LHS 3447), there's a good system not to far away called LTT 15574, that system has all kinds of RESs,cans big and small stations, and it popular, so you can find players to wing up with. :)

Surely you meant to say RES HIGH, where there's more space cops to help you out. Newbie's can wait for the cops to take the shields down on wanted ships and then join the fight. Once they're confident enough in their combat abilities, they can start attacking ships by themselves, with backup from the cops.

The order I'd recommend would be:

RES High
RES Low
RES
RES Hazardous

As mentioned above, close within 1000ls and then select a RES in the navigation pane to your left, it's then no different to approaching a station.

That would make sense if you were on your own, but in the high RES, you have the cops to help you. It's almost impossible to get killed by a wanted ship there and you make 10 times as much money there, so I can't see the sense in going to a low or medium RES. Also, the spawn rates in low and medium RESs are often really poor, so it can be very boring.

Thanks CosmicSpacehead. Yes Im close to that one. Im about to hit Dalton Gateway but cant find where you are talking about. Im not good on this map thing yet. LOL. How do I add you on my friends list in game? I have discord now so maybe we can WING together when you are on.

If you open the system map (no idea on what your key is for that), and got to the second tab, there is a search box there.
Simply type "LTT 15574" and press enter.
Once it's selected you can plot a route using the plot route icon. (Don't just select it as a destination, because it might be beyond your current jump range.
If all goes well, it should plot you a solid orange line through a few systems. If this line turns in to hash marks, it means you lack the fuel to make the trip, in which case make sure you either fit a fuel scoop, or dock at a station and refuel before going any further.
Once in LTT 15574, dock at the big Haxel Port. There's a load of RES sites near there, and if you're in Open, or Mobius, they'll likely be other new players there to help me you out.

If my dodgy explanation of how to search systems didn't help, simply look for a YouTube guide. :)

I'm currently offline now until Tuesday morning, so I'll throw you a friend request then. :)

Cool thanks. I found the system right after I posted. Just needed to use the mouse and adjust the screen a little and there it was under my nose. LOL. I made it there and about to jump to the RES site and get some Creds. LOL Im on all hours through the day so just hit me up.
