Finding stuff in Horizons

Do you have to land and drive around in the buggy before stuff you can collect appears on the ground or can you just fly along in your ship and see it from above?

You see the general area where stuff can be found, probably a certain radius. You then have to land and use the wave scanner on the SRV to pinpoint it's location. At least this is what they said on the dev streams.

I guess we will find out once the beta launches...
Obviously. Anyone know already?

Ahh okay, so essentially you'll always know where to land - you don't have to drive around in the buggy aimlessly then?

You'll probably still need to drive quite a bit but we'll see in the beta exactly how much. I'm also sure if you just land without looking from the orbit, your wave scanner will still work.

I reckon one of the first complaints will be: Why can't we see stations and outposts on planets from supercruise. I hope I'm wrong and we can see them like other stations from 100s of thousands of LS away otherwise it's going to be a real time waster having to go into orbital cruise just to get bearings on where the station is to find it's on the other side of the planet.

I reckon it won't be...since we CAN see planetary installations from super/orbital cruise... ;)

The base stations are apparently visible from orbit as small dark specs. In DB's europa video, you can see the base while he is in SC around the moon.
