What's a good way for finding Unidentified Signal Sources?

So far I've been flying around randomly, or doing some exploration scanning while waiting for them to appear.

Should I stay near stars or planets?
Go slow or fast?

What makes a difference?

Flying really fast and just hoping one pop up into the view.

Actually I think the best way is to go at minimum speed (30km/s in SC) and just watch the navigation list window (with all the planets and stations and stuff) on your left hand side until one appears. If you're going at minimum speed you're less likely to whizz past it. Often they pop up very regularly.

This method does pull back the curtain on the rather basic mechanics underneath, mind you!
