Finding your Carrier ?

When away from your Carrier you can go into the Galaxy Map and under your ship icon, click on a ship located on your Carrier and get a plot to the system & carrier.
This is a handy and helpful feature to get you back to your carrier.
The problem is that this only works some of the time.
Many times the system can’t find you carrier or any of the ships on it.

I am now out in the black doing exobiology….. Salad Hunting.
And plotting to my carrier is hit & miss.

Anyone find workarounds to this issue.

The favourite bookmark on the carrier works almost every time but it pays to have a rough idea where the carrier is supposed to be as occasionally the bookmark remains on an old location so you can head in the wrong direction.

That still a thing? Thought they'd fixed it.
This kept happening to me last year during the great goid war, but I've not encountered this for the last 6 months even though I'm jumping my carrier with a similar frequency.

My brain is actually getting better at remembering odd names with numbers since my eighth month return to Elite. Hm, the game is actually making my memory better, a wicked cool side effect!

As stated, bookmarking, and aRJay's advice when using the carrier management screen.

On a related note, I'm pretty sure there's a bug where, after opening a map and then long-clicking to set your FC as your destination, the game will point you toward a different FC.

I've lost track of the amount of times I've been SCing toward "my" FC and then (usually when a tangle of POIs resolve into distinct names) I realise it's not actually my FC that I'm heading for.
Was starting to think I was going a bit barmy but I've noticed other people having the same issue too.

Thing is, I can be in a different system, plot a course to my FC and the game will plot me a course to the correct system and to the correct planet (so, presumably, the game's started off pointing me at my own FC) but then, at some point, it seems to switch to a different FC and steer me toward that instead.

Yes that one will sometimes point you to an entirely different feature, it was showing up a lot in busy systems at the start of Trailblazers with the suggestion that FCs jumping in and out were upsetting where things where in some sort of list.

This is due to other FCs jumping in to/out of the system during the time between your last supercruise session. What happens is you nav lock your FC, then jump into supercruise and the signals get reordered to account for the other FC coming or going. Your ship still targets "entry number X" in the list but because the order has been adjusted it ends up being a different FC.

Like others said, just bookmark it, make it favorite, and name it, like adding a number before bookmark name, so it would be first/top on list. Like this;

1) Fleet carrier
A) Fleet carrier
And go on, just make sure its first before whatever else was there (bookmark)

That way, I never need look for it at map, just open fav bookmark page and select the very first one on list. Hold and it will plot directly to FC.
Works every time, and never, ever failed so far, even when too much drunk to find anything on map.

A problem is that once you are in system, you open the nav panel and must doomscroll through all the other carriers parked there, assuming you want supercruise assist.

(My solution is a filter to show bookmarked places)

what problem?

I got fleet carriers turned off via filter, on left side holo nav panel... If need use any other FC than my own, then its only time when I temporary turn it on, at nav panel.
Too many FC around, especially on CG's, engineer systems and so on, clutters nav panel a lot. Nav filters are good quality of life savers.

That being said, if my FC is bookmarked (wich is) I do simply plot route from favorite bookmark panel, from gal map... and once reaching system with it, its already locked onto it.
If upon reaching system, my FC is not locked on(happens sometimes yes), then I simply use my hotkey for "target next system in route", wich will "target" for me, that ploted destination (this include every kind of port, planet, FC or whatever wich is bookmarked, even if already in system), wich is my FC. No need scrolling down nav panel, lol.
Simple as that. Works every time 100%, atleast for me.

assuming you want supercruise assist.
Nope, no supercuz assist or docking computer (never used it, neither not really need it), as I consider those modules as highly unneeded in open play.
I can dock or undock at full speed myself just fine, same is for supercruz zooming around.
At 75% throttle, it settles down at 0:06, wich is fastest apporach before overshooting. If there is enough of gravity well, I can use that to go faster than 0:06, and use GW for slowing down.

Okay, nobody is required to use QoL updates, so that's fine.
That was just my personal opinion, I never said that others cant use it or should not use it... in fact, if other cmdrs use it, and shows up in open, it makes My job easier.. or faster, I should say... thats why I dont mind it, if others use those

A bookmark.
no. It doesn’t always work.

Even though I used the bookmark well over a dozen times during the previous CG, My bookmark to Chokoronius Rex, my carrier, took me to the system it was in over two weeks ago.

When I checked the bookmark it was no long we where my carrier was station.
