Newcomer / Intro fine and bounty

I did a srv ground mission. Took out a bunch of skimmers and a power station. Now I have a small bounty 5000c. My notoriety is still 0 but I can't seem to pay it off, even in the same system. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can pay it off in a system where the issuing faction is present - check Inara for a nearby Interstellar Factor, you should be able to pay it off there.

Yeah, go to an Interstellar Factor in a system where the faction that issued your bounty does not exist. Log off and log on, and it should appear. Good luck. :)

For future reference, if you get a bounty and some notoriety, which is very easy doing less than legal Odyssey shenanigans, no Interstellar Factor will deal with you as long as you have notoriety, no matter how far you fly. Sometimes the easiest way is to sneak into a station where you are wanted, apologize profusely (i.e. hand yourself in), pay your bounty and go to prison. Yes, you will wake up a few jumps away; don't do that in your murderhobo FDL with 2 ly jump range.

IMO, unless you are doing BGS work and married to a certain system/area, bounties and notoriety are only a minor inconvenience. Personally I just move on when a system becomes too hot for me. Some light years away you'll only get some comments, like "Your bounties don't concern us", or "I though commanders always obeyed the law". :D

An added advantage is that due to a different economy and BGS, you'll get slightly different missions and get to know another system. Also if you move on, you won't cause to much of a mess in someone else's BGS garden.

Unless you keep on being naughty, chances are that you'll find that notoriety has gone down to 0 someday and you can pay off your bounties at an IF. Or not, as when you've moved on they aren't pertinent anymore.

So does it clean ships you're not in?

That works until you build up enough that they become a galaxy-wide bounty...

The funniest is when it's guards at anarchy settlements that say the last one - I'd have loved them to have recorded alternate voice lines for scurvy space pirates and raiders.

Like how speeding isn't a crime around anarchy stations so if you go hooning around the place crashing into people the controller should just bust out laughing over comms especially if they explode as a result.
Wipe out a sidewinder while boosting your cutter out the mailslot and he's just "Ha-HAAAA, guess he shoulda "made way for larger vessels" eh commander? Man, what a mess."

Then you've been a very naught person indeed!
