Fire Torpedo One!!

Right, firstly i have no intention of watching sales reps streamers, usually with this new stuff i enjoy ignoring the noise and finding stuff out for myself.
So off i go firing yet more dodgy chemicals at alien beings (that worked out well last time).

My question for you battle hardened Axers is this, if im in Solo or my PG group how does this effect the state of the Titan?
Is this all registered as accumulative damage?
Bare in mind ive only just started lobbing torps at the mothership so have yet to work out all the stuff associated with it.

What i am trying to say is that do we all need to be grouped up in Open to have a serious impact? Just like the old days of raids in Everquest?
Anyone worked out yet how it works?

I did my fist examination in Solo as well - no internet, no system chat, completely shut off. I think it's the way to do it. Later I joined a group though, and with some coordination you can be much more effective and do a lot of attack runs on the core before the first ship goes boom.

My current impression is that it's a bucket filling game. Every drop fills it a little more. How much damage you do to the core probably determines the size of the drop. But every drop counts.

Every compromised heat vent seems to get around five seconds of core exposure. In my Solo runs I had trouble finding the vents at first, so I got very little exposure and only did a few percent damage to the core. In a group, you can coordinate much better, and with enough participants you can get the core to 0% - I assume that is the maximum damage you can do per attack cycle, and this results in the biggest drop in the bucket. How big or small, nobody knows yet.

Much appreciated, im going back in solo this morning to get more experience.
It seems logical that some events in ED like this should be group orientated and that one lone pilot (unlike a stupid film im not even going to mention) cant just destroy the thing themselves.
Im not the best AX pilot by a long shot, mainly did this stuff for sampling and research but once i can get enough experience up that im not a liability i may drag a few mates into Open tonight.

I'm not an AX ace myself, but I got the impression surviving in the Titan environment got a bit easier compared to when I was there the last time - maybe the optician prescriptions mentioned in the patch note did actually work. Even in Solo, when aggro'ing the instance I didn't instantly die and had not too much trouble getting away, whereas in the past I got chased by Glaives, Interceptors and Scouts until I died or pulled out once my surroundings spotted me and got aggressive.

The most important advice: Immediately retreat when the attack cycle is over. I had a fumble yesterday and boosted into the Titan instead of retreating and got caught inside the blue donut. Not a good idea.

From what I've seen reported both shooting the vents and damage to the pineapple count towards a cumulative bucket - more damage more count. They don't count very much, but do count. There are numbers in the journals apparently - still tracking them down.

Edit: I'm not convinced the vents give progress - nothing in the journals. Damaging the pineapple probably does (as it gives a bond payout), but again nothing in the journals I can see except the WarProgress in the Location / FSDJump events.

The "damage contribution" payout is kind of bizarre. Not just because of its value, but the way it so very obviously appears when the damage is accepted as a transaction by the backend servers... Makes the process feel extremely video-gamey.

Soooo after trying hide and seek with the incoming tharg missiles in a Krait, Mamba and my AX chief, i decided that even though it handles like a Harley in the rain i just went in with the Cutter, 1x huge beam, 1x 3C HC+RF AX missiles and 1x 3I of the new Torps.
I've just found that if you want to stay in there a while you need a shed load of Utility for sinks/ECM/etc etc and repair/decon limpets.
Its loads of fun, apology's to the chap in the clipper i accidently rammed! :ROFLMAO:

It's really an experience worth it to go to a Titan!

I feel somewhat sorry for the I don't engage with Thargoids crowd, but only somewhat.. :D

Completely agree, i was never interested in fighting Cyclops/Hydra's etc prior to Bob and his mates arriving, but the spire sites and Titans have been a blast.
I know some will moan that if you want to get into it you need a shed load of gear but ive enjoyed how Fdev have slowly introduced modules to progress the story.
Im itching to get out into the Black again but im going to hang around to see what happens to Taranis after all this pew pew lark.
