Newcomer / Intro Firing first

I am having an issue on being the first one to fire!! Recently brought a wanted ship using an intridiction and there he is floating around and I am targeting him and guns are not firing...my missiles will target and fire my cannon will fire but lasers do not until they fire at me. Kind of negates the surprise of all this. What am I doing wrong?

Pips to weapons? Lasers are quite power hungry.

Target for turrets set to Fire At Will? I use Target Only mostly so not sure if that setting means you have to have been attacked.

Might also be a bug. Plenty of those to go around.

Make sure you have your lasers set to a firegroup, and power in WEP.

Sounds like you've bought yourself some turret lasers. Swap them for gimballed (or fixed, if you're into that) and they'll fire like your cannon. If you meant to buy turrets, go into the ship panel on the right, tab to 'SHIP', transition to the right until 'TURRET WEAPON MODE' is highlighted and select it to swap the mode. You want target only I think. That will fire turrets at whatever ship you have targeted as soon as you press the fire button. Fire at will I believe automatically starts firing at any enemy/wanted ship as soon as you target it and scan completes.

Fire at will should go for any ship hostile to you not necessarily wanted ships just anything showing red. I think they have to fire at you to start them off.

I think that might work I will try it.

Keep in mind that Fire at Will can easily get you into trouble by repeatedly attacking clean ships, just because a ship is hostile doesn't necessarily mean it is a good idea to attack it as notoriety and bounties can be awkward.
