Firing your turrets doesn't engage the target? Is this a bug?

Is it possible to just activate the turrets and have them start firing automatically when you pull the trigger? Maybe a mark target option?

It's tedious to switch over to the side console, set forward fire, engage, then set back to fire at will.

I currently use another weapon to trigger this at the moment, but there are times when it can't reach when my turrets could. I want to use an all turret loadout but can't.

I would love it if you could do that, more control over my ship is always welcome. Thanks for reading!

Swapped out a million creds worth of turrets for a pair of cannon at a tenth of the cost. Having to click a minimum of nine times on a side panel to get them to start working while under fire is just plain silly. Then you have to redo it on the next target.

HOTAS - Hands ON Throttle and Stick. When in combat nothing should take your hands away from those controls. Not to mention the loss of line of sight to your target and radar as you're fiddling with the side panel.

Sorry, don't understand the issue.
Turrets set to "Target Only" will fire on your current target as soon as you have fired any other non-Turreted weapon at the currently selected target.
They then do not stop trying to fire at the chosen target as long as the target remains in focus.

The issue is with turret only ships that have no other weapon type.

I think you are saying you want more control over turrets too. Agreed.

That's the problem. I want to be able to say "Turrets, Engage Target. Fire at will!", and then they do so. I shouldn't have to fit a gimballed or fixed weapon to do that, or wait for them to shoot me, or go to the functions menu and switch to forward fire then fire at the target then back to functions menu then back to fire at will.
 
I agree, I had a turrets only setup on my viper could not figure out for longest time why both my primary and secondary weapons stopped working, it was like both my fire buttons went dead. No way to initially start an attack. Seems ridiculous you can't force weapon to even fire on your selected target!
