First assasination mission...

I'm working out of Anlave, been knocking down wanted guys by finding them at USS and by interdiction, thought..... I know do an assasination mission......

So I tracks down the varmit..... he's only running an anaconda!!!
1 shot my shields go and 10% of my hull too, dodged the 2nd shot, dont know how,, terror maybe... praised the foresight of a point defense unit as missiles came at me and high tailed it out of there.

Just wish when the mission card comes up.... "Target was last known to be flying an anaconda"

Back to hunting wanted people ... :(

Yup. Alot of forum goers say they are so easy but ive never fought one that was a walk in the park.

Once you've learn how to constantly out-maneuver them and keep your guns trained on their underside or topside or backside, the only threat they have is their turrets.

Sometimes this can mean strong Beam turrets that'll do decent damage to your shields even despite their inaccuracy and force you to keep using shield cells or chaff (or sometimes even running away to recharge) to stay alive. Other times it means they've got some dinky pulse turrets that you can mostly ignore while you dig in on their Power Plant or FSD or Drives and the fight is over in minutes.

They're often easy, but it's never a guarantee. Unless maybe you're one of those people that loads an Asp to the teeth with Dumbfires or whatever, but I've never tried that and dumbfires are getting a nerf vs shields anyway.

you got hit in the face by a plasma ball. all the assassination targets have that gun, but it's a fixed gun and the ball flies very slowly, so as long as you keep moving it's easy to avoid. that said the turrets will still hammer your shields down. a shield cell bank (pro tip, B rated is better than A rated as it gets 9 charges vs 5) will help you survive all but the plasma ball. flying backwards out to 2KM or more will make it's turrets struggle to hit you. just don't fly in a straight line, simply keeping the down thrusters running is enough to avoid a plasmary death, or any lateral thrusters you fancy.

with a viper and D rated shield and a B2 shield cell bank i was soloing those assassination missions when my viper was worth 1 mill. the fight is kinda boring when you kite, so if the cops turn up i like to close back into dogfighting range and take out a juicy subsystem. the cops are great, they act as a semi-permanent chaff dispenser by soaking up turret fire for you :)

I've been running these missions repeatedly. With 2 chaff and 1 shield cell, I do this with my ASP with very little risk. Even less risk in a Viper, I just dont like the limited module space on the Viper.

NPC anacondas force you to pay attention, but if you keep all the chaff and shield cells activating at the right times, you are good to go.

Nope .. wussed out and cancelled the mission, back to mucking about with 2000 cr bounties on NPCs

Although I do have nightmares about that anaconda coming looking for me ...

I take them in a Viper. With the right tactics, your shields should never break. Watch out for the plasma driver (glowing purple death); don't try to stand toe to toe; choose your subsystem targets intentionally; and pick up some helpful defensive modules. Then the most dangerous part of that fight will be accidentally grazing a cop.
