First attempt at training mission. Fail.

Ok so as a purchaser of the mercenary edition we got access to a training mission. So I do it and jumped right in. Holy cow I suck lol. Ok I am using mouse keyboard on half decent laptop so it plays and looks good but wow trying to control the ship is crazy. Coudnt keep speed constant making myself dizzy trying to steer it was carnage. I've got an adjustable dpi mouse so dialled that back a bit to help but still it's nuts.
so question is anyone who uses mouse/keyboard got any remap tips or guides? I am getting a gaming rig soonish and will prob go for stick/throttle setup but for now would like to be able to play from launch.

Cheers.

swap mouse axises to pitch and yaw and map roll to A and D or Q and E ... makes flying a lot easier once you get used to it.

I also use Z X C as 0% 50% and 100% thrust ... then just fine tune a bit with W and S if I really need to.

I also play with mouse and keyboard and I play like this:

Mouse left/right = roll
A/D = Yaw
W/S = normal throttle

The important part is to set the mouse axis BOTH to relative, meaning that the input you gave will slowly diminish until 0 again. Turn-battles in dogfights aren't that much of a pain if you set the speed at which the input diminishes close to nothing. That solves your spinning problem.

I also set the manual thrust forward and backward to my mouse-thumb-keys, helps a lot for landing and keeping relative speed in dogfights.

There was a link to a youtube video here on the forums in which a guy took his time to help people that are hitting the brickwall by trying to play with keyboard and mouse, will edit my post if i find the link again.

The settings I shown you up there should help a great deal already though, just take your time and experiment with it, you got plenty time until 16th... :O (A friend did let me try the game with his beta account for a week and now im addicted but cannot play on cause he plays again and my damn mercenary edition doesn't allow me to - yet)
