First discover of star, not few bodies?

Came into a system with 1 star, the star has not been discovered, but 4 of 15 planets are discoverd by some Baloo (R). How is it possible he discover those 4, but not the star?

The current exploration scanner auto-scans the star on arrival. With the old scanner, if you wanted to scan the star you had to point your ship towards the star and leave it pointed there for several seconds until the scan completed. Stars aren't worth much, so it simply wasn't worth many explorers time if there were more valuable scannables in the system - especially if you were flying an Anaconda or some other not-very-maneuverable space hulk.

That is the most likely explanation - Its interesting scanning systems discovered/explored by older technology, as there is still a lot of valuable planets undiscovered and mapped.

I am currently doing a little shakedown of my new Mandalay about 3-4k ly from the bubble. I'm finding systems that have not been fully scanned, from the pre Exo and SCO days. Previously CMDR's might not bother with planets and moons that now have Exo data or systems orbiting stars that took too long to visit, but are easily in reach of an SCO equipped ship.

Could be a rewarding way for those CMDR's new to exploration to find undiscovered planets without travelling too far from home.

Safe travels CMDR's 07
