So, I'm curious about when First Discovered by kicks in. I've just sold a whole bunch of data and now the systems show up as First Discovered by me, but they didn't before I sold the data. So does it apply once I've scanned a body, but only show up once I've sold it? Or is there a race to report it first?

Thanks guys... that's what I'd assumed but a couple of posts seemed to be saying the opposite.
Also, when does cartographic data go on sale? I was hoping I could see if data was available to buy as an indicator that someone had already been to a system, but nothing seems to be available in deep space.

I dont know if the deep space information ever goes up for sale, I know the inhabited systems do. Interesting question though. I wonder how Universal Cartographics is making money if they're not selling the data they're collecting?
Also iirc, not every station sells carto data, only some do, you can filter for carto shops on the galmap and check "information for sale". Try that perhaps?
