first discovered by Validating

I'm sure I did that test years ago
like I said complete fiction and the above forum statement in post 21 sounds a bit crispy to me
of course for me it would read I was ist to discover the habitable earth type due to my own in game logs dating back to 2014, but to someone else I doubt it

Help I'm on my first really big Exploration trip about 8000+ light years from the bubble. I really want to get some first discovery tags but everything seems to say "first discovered by validating".

So my questions are:

1) Is this just because I have to return to the bubble and sell the cartographic data before I am attributed the find?

2) Is there really a Cmdr Validating (I seriously doubt it)?

3) Is this a database glitch that it does not have access to?

4) lastly I read years ago this was a glitch with Xbox migration but thought that was fixed. could it be related?

Hi Commander , you have to go to the far far away space to find some planets that no one was scanned before . actually , near the human civilization space , almost every planet had been mapped and scaned , you know ? the game was over 4 years old ( or much older )

But according to the OFFICIAL DATA , only 0.4% of the interstellar had been explored , so you still have many many many chance to be the first one to explore a far away planet.
for me , i have explored and mapped a few planets that no one have been reached before , that's planets are located between the rotue from SOL to EAGLE SECTOR , so you can see , how far i have jumped into the no man space .......

and i want to tell you , i choose a very slow path to go to colonia , i think less than 5% commander will choose this rotue , i have not unloaded the weapons and hangers . so i can only FSD less than 20 LY each time , so that is why i have more chance to explored a planet and leave my name in the exploring record ^^

you may try to go to some area that not many commanders have reached before , i can't tell you where to go , but you may try EAGLE Sector and OMEGA SECTOR , i think most commanders will skipped these port on the way to Colonia .

Traveling through Orion-Cygnus Arm and Vulcan Gate nebula hopping. The number of first discoveries at nice locations by Validating is pretty high. If this is a glitch or bug it is a very significant one. It really stands out.

For an explorer to spend the time to visit a cool site First Discovered by Validating kinda sucks. I got no problem if it was discovered by a real cmdr and proper credit is given. In fact I like seeing who made the discovery. And if I make cool discoveries I certainly don't want my name replaced by Validating.

Everyone give this issue a vote if you have seen it. I wouldn’t raise another issue even if you’re not on Xbox -this issue is actually acknowledged as a bug so we need to get it enough votes.

I have found CMDR Validating again in the beta and filed a ticket in the appropriate place:

Please add comments if you have seen this bug so that it gets enough attention to proceed to the Voting phase. Cheers!

I don't think it is a bug but a mechanism.
There will be batch jobs run to do the validating of new discoveries, as searching all of the database will take some time. And the handing in of discoveries has been optimised a lot from the days when you had to hand in them in one at a time. :)
It would be interesting to see if Validating changed over time and when.

This is a known bug in live, and it happens for systems that I tagged years ago. It is definitely a bug. Let’s get it fixed.

Edit: it has actually been acknowledged as a bug in live, but I imagine they’ll be focusing on beta stuff so I think we should comment / vote on this issue, as it shows the problem is extant.

Has it been acknowledged as one by FD? If so it has been around forever.

I am told that we need 10 comments for this to get looked at, otherwise it will expire. Now up to 7 - please give it a look if you haven't yet! Get your tags back from CMDR Validating!

I did pass through a cloud of these First Discovered by VALIDATING tags a wee while ago. They are never Mapped By tags, afaik, so there's a good chance they are an artefact of the Xbox migration or some other old database failure.

:D S

When I tested it in the beta, my name appeared...for a day. Then it was replaced with Validating again.

Just two more comments needed!

OK this is now an acknowledged bug! Please vote for it so we can get our tags back and finish off CMDR Validating once and for all! The ticket is linked below:
