First Discovery

A simple question about something that's bugging me.

If I find an unscanned system, when does the credit get applied to the system? Does it happen on scanning, or is it when the data is sold? I'd hate to think I have a bucketful of 50% bonus credits that might evaporate if somebody gets back to 'civilisation' and claims the system while I'm still out exploring.

You get first discovery on a body when:

1) You perform a detailed scan of that body

2) You successfully manage to sell the data back to Universal Cartographics

3) You were the first to sell the data on that body

Oh, that could sting, as I expect to be out another 3 weeks or so. Still I guess with all the systems, it'd be real bad luck to lose out on everything I find.

Given the sheer size of the galaxy, and the number of star systems within it (400 billion! *pinky to mouth*), unless you're exploring within what I call one of the Main Route Tunnels (e.g. you're on a heading straight for a nebula, or Sag. A* straight from the inhabited bubble), then the chances of another explorer scanning the same star systems as you are quite slim, and the further out you go from the inhabited bubble, the slimmer those chances get.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Rgds
