First DK2 experience, few questions;

1) Is there a way to check if low persistence works?

2) Also, is that distance adjustment on OR ( the one you need coin or screwdriver for) just a matter of preference, because for me the closer it is the sharper image I seem to get.

3) Is it just me or you cant see very much difference between max and min settings in game in OR?

Ive tried both lenses and B had sharper image, but definitely I had to focus my eyes to the point it was painful (as I should have normal vision). And just after hour of gameplay and some dogfight in ED I did feel my eyes and my stomach kinda, I dont know how normal that can be if it goes away or not. In game I guess I was getting 75+ FPS once I put everything on low.

Feel free to correct me.
1 You can gat a persistence checker for I think the DK1, but set DK2 to 60hz to feel the difference, its unusable.
2 Set it to exactly what the config. tells you to.
3 Max and min setting ? are these the OR quality settings.
A and B lenses the same just a cup offset for glasses.
Stomach churning..........get it a bit......but require more.

1) I know there is an answer, but I cannot think of it off hand. All of my research material for the Rift is inaccessible at the moment. One thing I can think of is to check to see if your monitor is 60hz or 75+. If its 60hz, and it's set to primary, turn off vsync if you have the Rift in extended mode. You can only get LP with 75hz.

2) Its a matter of preference / eye sight. The lenses give a general adjustment, the distance gives a finer adjustment. At least, that's how I go about it.

3) Just you. I see a massive difference. Of course, this could also be your graphics driver settings overwriting the game settings. I presume you're using an nvidia card, if so, check to see if the nvidia control panel is overwriting the application settings.

You shouldn't have eyestrain. That's bad, even if the image is clearer. The stomach issue.. well, that's unfortunately normal. Ginger ale, ginger root, or Dramamine should help. Like sailors need to get their sea legs, us VR users need to get our VR legs. E: D is alot easier in this aspect than say.. HL2. Actually, play HL2 until you can stand to be in it for 5 minutes without feeling ill afterwards, and then E: D shouldn't be an issue ;)

My understanding is the B lenses are for nearsighted people. A should be used unless you're very nearsighted.

I see a huge difference between the MIN and MAX (Oculus) settings. Text is totally unreadable, and the image is generally crap on MIN. It's almost like its rendering everything at a much lower resolution...but I don't know what it's actually doing.

I tend to play with the lens depth adjusted all the way out. Largely because I have glasses and a big nose. Also, you seem to get a bit wider FOV with the screen farther away. Lenses are weird!

I play with the A lenses all the way out. It's not that I've got a big nose. It's more that my head is larger than a grapefruit.

MIN/MAX settings - I meant in-game graphics. I have my oculus slider to max all the time.

Also its in exdtended mode set to 75hz.

I was just wondering about that eye strain. It's not really huge but I can feel it after some half an hour or so. Also, you say that with lenses at max far-out you have better FOV; that's exactly I have them at clsoes, it seemed to me I have better FOV with that.

and that utility thing messured my IPD to 63.2.

From my understanding, the utility doesn't predetermine the best setting for you. It just displays the current setting. Increments are 1 mm steps per mark.

(personally have it at 7 mm, 4 steps out on the side screw, IPD 68.1 mm, A lenses, no glasses)

Ok so i get its a matter of comfort and preference and it doesnt scale with IPD.
Then i wanna know when you use messure tool do u use dk1 or dk2 method?

Love it!! :)

Yeah well FPS game makes me sick in few minutes. Its so weird. Also after few mins u feel sick so much that is lasts for hours.

Did you put 0.0632 into the Settings.xml? Certainly in the earlier betas it wasn't using the value setup in oculus configuration. This made a massive difference for me. I spent ages with it set to .3 mm and really had to work hard to focus.

Just to point out its pretty important to get this set up correctly. Firstly when calculating your IPD you must set the screws so that its at the max distance out from the screen and probably the values in the configuration screen. Once that is done you are free to adjust the screws to whatever notch feels comfortable ( i use 6th so the screw groove is vertical), you must then set the same notch value in the Oculus configuration so it matches the physical one. One aspect that got me is that the configurator display felt like it was back to front, i.e. the closest distance used what I thought was the furthest notch and vice versa, so just make sure you have it correct. As far as I can tell it does make a difference as I was playing around with the screws whilst playing Alien Isolation ( which for me feels slightly out of focus no matter what) and as I increased the physical distance the view became more blurry.

One of my biggest gripes with Oculus currently is that you seem to have to set all this stuff up prior to playing and none of it can be controlled dynamically afterwards. I can't help feeling it would be far easier to be able to play with the various settings whilst in game to ensure you get as clear a picture as possible.

I had no idea, that I have to edit config file :O Im gonna try it.

EDIT: Dude.. OMG that helped so much. Text is better, screen is fitting more. Great.

Any tips for FPS messuring while in game? I know that in demo in asteroidfield my FPS are dropping under 75 i would want to know by how much.
I mean I wanted to do mining mainly after DEC16, but I can see it's not that hot stuff for OR.

Can you guys tell me where the "settings.xml" file is located on a stock install?
