First DK2 experience, few questions;

I'm staring to think that IPD is just voodoo - I see absolutely no difference what I set it to, nor the 'eye relief' distance. None.

Yeah, unless it's way off I haven't seen much difference. When it was set to 0.3mm I really struggled, but I've played around with setting it between 60 and 70mm and can't see any obvious change.

Have you tried FRAPS? It's free.

I'm using fraps since 2006, but it shows only on my monitor screens not on OR ingame :X

Well In my settings file it was set 0.07 and i changed it to mine 0.0626.

Also how do you turn OFF vsync when you already select rift profile (headphones). It's red then and I cannot turn it off and so many ppl said it's better with vsync off.

I use Nvidia Inspector to do it, but it can be done in the driver as well under your ED profile. Personally, I prefer to force it to adaptive on. Got too much tearing for my taste with it turned off and a higher impact on FPS when forcing standard on, but that's just from my personal experience.

VSync off would be awful in the DK2, no? I remember trying it on DK1 and it sucked big time then... not even tried it on DK2 because of how bad it was on DK1!

I just keep hearing that. I know i can force it from nV control panel, but then again, i have no FPS meter that shows in game (fraps doesnt for some reason) so i dont know how smooth im. BEcause it seems when the FPS is like slightly below what it should be.. like 65-70fps, you dont see it on the screen immediately but after a while you got that feeling something isnt right.

I just used fraps to take one minute benchmark samples and reviewed the log files later to compare. An easy mode to check current FPS in the game would be to just take out the left lense after hitting Ctrl+f, which lets you see the FPS counter in the bottom left of the screen.

I run Afterburner on my main screen with the stats window (including FPS) detached... take a peek out the bottom of the Rift when I need to... works for me. :)

I dont have FPS in afterburned monitoring.

1) Is there a way to check if low persistence works?

Low persistence keeps getting disabled all the time, and I've found what seems to be a reliable fix. Without closing E: D, I go to the desktop, open the Rift Display Mode window and set the mode to "Direct HMD Access from Apps", apply, and then immediately set it back to Extend Desktop mode. When I get back in the game, it's been fixed.

I have to do this a lot, though. At least every time I start E: D, and I believe the low persistence sometimes gets disabled while the game is running, too.

You can tell the difference by looking (in the game) at a bright light/text on a dark background while turning your head from side to side. If there is noticeable "smearing" in the direction you're moving, then low persistence is not enabled. Also, when disabled, it seems to screw up the display gamma, making almost-black shades look wrong.

You have to go into the options and enable it somewhere... it turns on Rivatuner Statistics Server.

Yeah I wish.

It's kinda clear that I'm not hitting 75FPS in asteroid field. Makes me kinda sad, because i have lowerish settings with some medium ones. :/ Its much better, in fact its ok in dog fights scenarios which are not in asteroid fields.

Ok, so when benchmarking with fraps, I need average fps to be 150+ right, because that's for the whole display, right?

Ok so with OCed gtx770, ... most settings at low or medium (IPD edited to my own in settings file)
-agressive flying in that demo asteriod field I got 71FPS average, with min/max at 36/76.
-IN advanced combat demo, where you are just above the planet, no pesky asteroids, its 74.944FPS, which means probably its stable at 75fps, because min max here was 73/76.

Now in the other topic there was a guy saying that with his 770 he could have silky smooth performance with maxed out settings :X

EDIT: with maxed settings im getting average 60fps at asteroid field. its really noticable. Because even those 71FPS on low/medium details is not smooth all the time. But currently its my preferable setting since I cannot see much a of difference between max/medium settings.
