I remember my first and was so excited it wasn't discovered yet. That was until I finally got back to the Bubble a year later to find someone had scanned it and sold the data to get First Discovery before I could cash it in. I did get other firsts for ELWs on that trip, but couldn't remember anymore what one was actually the first with my name on it after that point...
So whats your ELW/day ratio ?!
1.768/day since the first one. Found #1291 on the way back in last night....also my average is one in every 75 systems visited.

is there any stats which records our discoveries and such? or is it all up to us?
There's nothing in game of much value.
There is a range of 3rd party tools to help you keep track - I recommend ED Discovery but I'm one of the devs on that so I'm biased. Numerous other tools exist which can track where you've been and what you found there. None can record your first discoveries as counted by the game as that information is not externally accessible (but once you get out there a bit nearly everything you see is a first discovery anyway...)

Now finding over 100 Earth likes I will always remember my first; BYUA EUQ OJ-C C2-0 as I first discovered and later on rediscovered it. This is my tale :-
In April of 3301 I amassed enough creds to go on my first exploration. Everyone was off to Sag A* so that was the obvious choice of destination so I fitted my Cobra with the best equipment -all "A" rated modules ('cos "A" is the best,innit?) and a few lasers (just in case....) and set off excited, full of hope and with a 19lyr jump range.
All went well for the first week and 5k out found my first untagged ELW-result!
It was a day after I hit a problem- my next 1000lyr route failed. If my first ignorance was how to load a ship for exploration my next was how the galaxy map worked. I had no idea you could go up and down the galactic plane and now know that during my route plotting had drifted too far up the galactic plane, hit a gap in the spiral arm and couldn’t go further than 300lyrs forward. I persisted on finding a plottable route but only made things worse so headed back home and found I couldn’t plot a route back! For two days I tried to find a route, threw a sickie at work and sent a distress call to other commanders but the advice ranged from ‘persist with it’ to ‘you plotted your way in you therefore you should be able to plot out’ and ‘should have logged your plots then’ .On the second day I said farewell to my potential tags, terraformable HMCs/WWs and my ELW find and self destructed my way back to Sol.
18 months later (and a helluva lot wiser on exploration) I was returning to the bubble from my latest trip-to scan the opposite point of Sol-Sag A* and thought of my first ELW but as I had a hard drive failure not long after my first trip and only had a sector name dismissed it as impossible to find again. Then I remembered-not long after my first ill-fated trip a Commander on a Facebook group was trying to find an ELW and I sent him a screenshot of the system map! After a lot of searching found the post and the system screenshot-

Checked the system map (it stays open even if you are destroyed before selling the data) , just a K star and asteroid belt but no tag……it seems the Commander didn’t bother…. Set bookmark and detoured to system…….arrive at system and honked/scanned………..there it was-the system was exactly the same! ( I was worried another honk may have changed the worlds).
My first Earth Like World rediscovered after eighteen months lost!
As I was jumping into the system my wife muttered “What are you getting so worked up and excited about? It’s only a bloody game” but it’s times like this that it’s far more than that…………

Oh wow, love that tale, thank you so much for sharing. And yes, it's a game, and at the same time, it's so much more.
Nice, my first was in SLYAIKS JG-N C23-1. I found it in my first trip into deep space and I died on the way home due to a malfunction on my silent running system - either I hit the wrong key or Windows decided to send a key press to ED while I was alt-tabbed renaming a screenshot to indicate where I'd taken it... Whichever it was the data was lost and my new Cobra had acquired the Silence Unbounded name.
No problem, I went back on my next trip and tried to rescan it but then I discovered an ED bug was preventing me rescanning anything I'd lost on the ill-fated trip. I did raise it with support but they could only offer sympathy and had no way to fix those systems I will never be able to rescan. I even stuck a thread on this forum advertising the untagged ELW - Chiggy swung past for a look but didn't scan it.
Fast forward another 15 months or so and I'm back in that area on my circumnavigation trip so Chiggy and I arrange to meet up and while we're in a wing he finally scans the ELW I cannot scan. I continue on my way while he heads back to the bubble to sell the data and it worked. I never saw any credits from UC and the tag is deservedly shared with the CMDR who helped my get mine on there but my first finally had my name on it.
