First Engineer location?

As of the newsletter, maybe we should check out MAIA A 3:

"Professor Ishmael Palin has announced his intention to retire from the research institute he founded last year. In a statement, the professor said he plans to set up a modest research centre on Maia A 3 a, where he will offer a range of engineering services."

I imagine that's where we'll get corrosion resistant cargo racks?

Nice work. There's such a disconnect between the RP veneer of PP and Galnet that it never even occurred to me that any plotline or character would actually make its way into the game as a mechanic.

Additionally, Senator Kahina (the star attraction of the book Elite: Reclamation) made her way into GalNet and is now a player character in the faction Children of Raxxla (which may become a power if they win the necessary support over the next couple of weeks...)

I think FD are doing pretty well with meshing characters from lore with game mechanics so far.

I thought it was too obvious at a first glance that it's not worth discussing o_O
Only question...what's the speciality? Good idea from a commander in this thread - corrosion resistant cargo racks. Only other thing that comes to my mind - modified discovery scanners. Not sure it will be a thing in initial Engineers update, but cool ideas brewing in my head.

(Where's Walden now?)

hidden scientific laboratories on Lave or any of the plotted asteroids in the system. Rumours of a secret colony on Lave II have never been confirmed

Didn't make any sense whatsoever back then - but heck... maybe there's an Asteroid Base or Planetary Installation there in V2.1 - thus checking Lave might be worth a shot.

Just remembered during Horizons Beta, I actually found Lave 2 being permit-locked (it was not locked anymore when V2.0 was released) :

Kinda interesting, IMHO makes Lave 2 Planet a candidate to re-visit.
(and I'm not aware of any individual Planets being permit-locked? IMHO this might have been done to prevent Players going down there during 2.0 Beta... were the Devs testing something down there? Unless I'm really missing something here, I'd think so... )

There is one permit locked moon in Sol system orbiting Earth like world called Earth. Some say that its made of cheese but no player have had change to go and take a bite.
