Not sure if anyone cares, but thought I might post my thoughts and some screenshots.
I have done plenty of combat, and trading but never really took a proper trip out into the unknown, maybe a couple hundred light years but that's all.
I decided to go in my clipper, I know it's not the perfect ship for this, but the view is perfect and one of my goals was to take some nice screenshots of interesting things I found.
First I'll say that 1000 LYs isn't really anything compared to others, but this was a first test for me so I started scouting around the galactic map for something 1000 LYs away. I came across IC 1287 Nebula, a tiny one system nebula about exactly 1000 LYs from Sol (It literally is 999.99LYs from Sol)
So I outfit my Clipper as light as I could and still be pretty flyable, this ship doesn't have the best range but I squeezed 25.5 LYs out of it with even a couple weapons just incase. The downfall of this ship (I hope the Devs reconsider at some point) is the tiny fuel tank, only 16 Tons on such a large ship is quite ridiculous, when jumping 24-25 LYs you only get about 3 jumps and need to refuel but I figured that would let me learn watching for scoopable stars.
What is nice though I fit a class 7 scoop, only a D but still it could fill that tank in seconds so no wasted time scooping for long periods and also less heat damage. I'll post the fitting I used, I did fit repair units which on a small journey like this are pretty much a waste, but they have to weight so why not just incase.
I headed out from the Founders World and greeted with this perfect view right out the mailslot.

I set a course to HR 6946 which is the center of the Nebula and off I went!
After about 100ish LYs jumps out of civialized space I jumped into my first undiscovered system and scanned the entire thing, which took quite a bit but ran across this nice shot of a gas giant. I also decided at this point that I would only scan interesting objects and the main star of every system, also at this point most systems were already scaned but others and I wanted to put my name out there in the stars.

After a few more jumps I found what I couldn't believe an undscivered Earth-Like Planet only about 150 LYs from civialized space! I was excited! Maybe one day I'll get to name it for it's discovery. Guess this shows you don't have to go far to find cool stuff.
Here is a nice shot of my planet

and the system it's in.

I kept on jumping, then I had the scariest event of my trip I jumped into a trinary system and swear I warped though the one sun but was lucky enough to only get up to 134% heat before I got out of there.

Finally I got to my destination...

The return trip was uneventful, minus the interdictions and ended up at Dall Dock, the first station on the fringe of inhabited space, on a different path then I took out.

All in all I had a good time and was cool being the first to discover systems, I had hoped that no one had hit that tiny nebula but no such luck. Finding an Earth-Like world so close was unexpected, but maybe more common then I thought. I had about 50K in damage and repair, made about 700K and a bunch of first discoveries. The interdictions were pretty annoying and have definitely increased since 1.1. I had no bugs or issues selling data and while the view out of the clipper is perfect, the Asp I'm sure is a better ship for exploring for not only range but fuel tank. I'm going to post up some videos also of some neat sights and here was the fitting I used for the Clipper

Thanks for reading if you made it this far, I'm sure I'll go out again into the unknown.
