Downloaded merc edition on day one and playing every day since.
While i usually use wire2k as my handle in games i decided to go more role play so named my commander Larez Lightblade.
Spawned in LHS 3447 made my way doing some easy trade missions. Soon learned that LHS 3447 is a terrible system since I had 10-15 min trek in SC eveytime to get to Dalton Gateway.
Did some musical chairs and moved all my ships one system over to Eravate and made myself at home and now have a couple ships I have named in honour of my wife.
My sidewinder ‘Wiggles Wrath’ - which I don’t use much now and may refit for exploration and long jumps to get me to empire space to hand in the 200k I have saved up in bounties
A hauler ‘Bootyful Jem’ - for some trade routes I ve found.
Traded my kitted freagle for a viper ‘Frisky Minx’ – all kitted out for bounty hunting, my home system has a nice number of anarchy systems around.
So far im very pleased with the game, ive been playing open play with the odd quick switch to solo when theres a long queue at a station and while I get the odd disconnect now and then I think FD have had a great launch with no sign of issues others have had like battlefield where its unplayable until months of patches later. I know there is some whining that the game is incomplete and not enough content but I think they have done a good job with getting the main game down and further content can be added later and theres still a lot of the current content to explore.
I quite like that there isnt too much hand holding and somethings you have to experiment and figure out for your self but there are a number of areas im still very iffy on.
Conflict zones – I know theres the on going stuff with Lugh, the Fed blockade of onionhead and the slave stuff with the empire but none of these are anywhere near me. Are the conflict zones random and can pop up anywhere conditions are right or are they only when put into action by FD? I have noticed that there are two factions in LHS 3447 that say they are in civil war, is it that they are at war with eachother or a struggle within each faction, will this cause conflict zones to appear as I havent spotted any so far?
Im still having some trouble with the pirate killing missions finding I kill so many but only about half count toward the mission and trying to figure out if it’s a glitch or whether you need to be killing a certain faction or sumin?
At the moment im killing anything wanted but looking at supporting one of the factions in my home system and figuring out how this works.
Earlier today got my Viper kitted enough for my first conda assassination kill so proabably gonna be racking up more of these over the next few days.
p.s I love some of the names they have for the NPCs ive killed the likes of Bill Bailey, Robo Baggins, John ‘Reaper’ Grimm (someone at FD is a Doom fan) and had to alt-tab to load up fraps and record my self killing Braben (sorry David, couldn’t resist) which ill post to youtube when I get round to it.
