This reminds me of a surreal zoo experience I had. When I was in the Jerusalem Biblical zoo a couple of years back, I went in the lemur walk-in habitat (a few species, including Ring-tailed) and a few just... casually got out of the exhibit. We helped one zookeeper bring a couple back in, but others were unreachable. The zookeeper told us they just come back in when they realize there isn't food and shelter outside.
