First look CQC maps Twitch stream - 7PM BST tonight

A major request is to please re-utilize assets and learning from this in the PU where possible and it makes sense. The space elevator is a natural, of course. Asteroid station, assets and destructible station bits, functioning station doors were very nice and would be cool to see if/how these could be used in-game;

I'd be shocked if FD haven't planned already to use all these assets in the main game. I am especially looking forward to asteroid bases. :)

Well needless to say it looks great, and if the team can get :

6 Maps
Solo & Team Matchmaking
Solo & Team ELO
Player statistics
Leaderboards
Betting
Observermode
Mutators

Then its going to be really solid, and if popular could become a esport.

I really hope so, otherwise it's effectively a different game...and one that looks more engaging than the game we have right now :/

We need Asteroid bases like that in game, with missions to defend them or something. It would make bounty hunting in RES actually have a purpose.

Looks okay for what it is (Eve Valkyrie still looks better for that kind of game IMHO.)

I wish it was integrated into the main game in a better way though - this whole "dip in and out, even when at Sag-A" thing is not very inspired, from the main game's perspective (again, IMHO).

But then you'd have

"I want to play some CQC but I have to fly 600bn light years to play, why do FDev hate explorers so much?"

Also, it is explained as being a Federation run simulation.

Multiple character slots - fixed! ;)

Personally I think this "VR simulation" explain really spoils exploration and the whole feeling of vastness, and loneliness (in a good way - threat, dread, risk), that ED has created so well.

Well I'd argue multiple character slots degrades the one player, one ship idea. So...... :)

Not really, they're separate, like 2 accounts.

But I accept that most people seem to want to pew-pew with their main character no matter where they are, or how badly it fits into the already shaky explanations of trade info/selling exploration data/etc when you can play a high-res, real-time VR tournament from anywhere in the galaxy!

This is an example of not being able to make all the people happy all the time. IMO while it feels a little clunky to have this as a separate game mode from the main game, it's a reasonable compromise.

That was very boring to watch. This CQC is not for me, this is for the console players.

I don't understand why Frontier didn't think that it would better for the whole game to give us other alternatives more imbricated with the Lore.
People who have not enough play time or explorers could join their friends at the other end of the Galaxy through wormholes.
Some points of interest like stations wrecks, giant astéroids could be used for races or duels.

Instead we got some arcade arenas. Very dissapointed.

I am not a console player (the last console I've had was the original PSX) and yet I'm looking forward to CQC. Your statement is therefore not true.

CQC surely isn't for everybody, some will like it, some will be indifferent and some will hate it. And that's good, if we all liked the same things life would be extremely boring. Just enjoy what you do enjoy about Eilte and remember there are 599 999 other players and the game development is not centered around YOUR needs.

totally agree..... Don't get me wrong, an unranked CQC outside of the game is fine, but still, RANKED CQC which you can actually earn some in game recognition for taking part in should be in physical locations in the game imo, different locations for different arenas etc. There is so much cool stuff they could do with this (some of the better arenas being in permit systems and the only way to get a permit is to become a big enough name in CQC. (CQC of course would need to be do-able in solo as well if a player chose against AI - though I would be fine personally with my name not appearing in the player leaderboards in that case as well as player filled competitions occurring in open..

ps Eve Valkyrie looks simply stunning & if ever there was a reason to buy a rift that is it...... but that does not mean Elite CQC cant be good in its own right.

Think of it as the E : D version of paintballing or LaserQuest... there you go... problem solved...
