i like the bbc globe logos, its hard to believe that the hot air balloon opening logos are over 10 years old now, i only thought they stopped 3 years ago.

The childrens channel, sky one movie channel and sky movies logos bring back some old memories too.

The adverts have some actors when they were children and who could forget those old milk tray ads and the fly fishing by j.r. hartly yellow pages ad

I am not too much found of watching of TV now a days. I feel that watching too much Tv is just time wasting and nothing more thats why i hate it

Ah the good old days of British television
We had 3 channels, which all started at 9 o clock in the morning and finished at 12 o clock at night.
Where upon we would all stand up and salute the TV as it played god save the queen.
And the only thing on BBC2 would be the test card, for about 8 hours a day. :D

Thanks
Now I know where that strange feeling of dread comes from every time I switch over to BBC2. It must be an old childhood memory kicking in

Oh, and Steve, I can remember the first movie I saw on VCR. It was "The Shining". More childhood memories!:eek:

I remember getting our first VCR. It was like magic :D

It was a Ferguson Videostar Betamax for me. size of a suitcase and huge levers on the front which you had to push down like massive typewriter keys.

happy days :D

Talking of old video recorders, we used to have an old JVC one. My parents got it in 1981 to record the wedding of Charles and Diana; and we had it for over 10 years.

I remember a friend of mine came round once and I was rewinding a tape in the machine. My friend innocently hit the 'eject' button (just as I was leaping towards him screaming 'Nooooooo!')....- and about 4 miles of VHS tape spewed out all over the lounge floor!

He was completely perplexed! (Virtually no one had 'mechanical' video recorders at that point!)

Wow, Excellent thread and links. Thanks everyone.
Brought back memories of watching The OU and test transmissions before proper TV started in the morning. Then on to Batman, and Champion the Wonder horse, etc....

Oh, and who could forget Saturday morning TV like Why Don't You... just switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead...?

jogged my early memories of TV.

So; my first memory of TV was of going to the neighbours with my parents one afternoon and watching the news. No idea what it was about, but I remember my mother being very upset and frightened and asking my father what would happen now?

Decades later I watched the film JFK and had a flash-back to that afternoon. We had watched the news of his assasination.

My other early memory of TV (by this time we had one ourselves) is of hiding behind the sofa watching the second episode of Dr Who, because the first was too scary.

I know, both of those really date me

They sure do :p, thats whats great about this forum. Im one of the younger ones on a game forum again

My earliest memory of TV I think is Star Wars, Han Solo at the helm of the millenium falcon as it leaves Tatooine space for Alderaan. If its not that then its an advert for some store that didnt have a branch in our own town as I remember questioning my mum about where that shop was. Exact order of events is difficult to remember that far back...

Few blasts there....

I used to get all excited in the mid seventies when I saw a world logo come up with dramatic music - the problem was that I thought space 1999 was about to come on but it was usually survival (wildlife).... much disappointment...

and also hearing a certain music on a Sunday as that Jack Hargreves program came on (Can't remember what it was called) - him in his shed - bit like your granddad telling you about how they used to play with hoops and spinning tops when they were young....
