Newcomer / Intro First night on the game

Hi all,

Had my first go on the game tonight, I'm frustrated but looking forward to being back for more.

I've gone through about 5 Eagles which took me forever to find at the station, I kept overshooting when places when using the framedrive until I figured out to stay in the blue lines

I took some bounty missions and the found a nav beacon in the system, killed a few ships when someone didn't beat me to it but twice I got killed by federal security forces for no reason, I was neutral and didn't fire on them. I am around 10K in debt due to all the ships.

I just took a bounty to kill some traders so I went to the nav beacon on the system and killed a transport which wasn't a trader, not sure what a trader is and now I have a 7K bounty from the federation

i hoped oped there would be more tutorial in the game as time is limited for me so spending loads of time getting no where is frustrating, when I am taking these jobs I have no idea if I am going to get into trouble either. Generally no clue what's going on so far for me

There are a great many helpful youtube videos out there, some are pretty old but they have good information regardless.

You'll only get attacked by federal security if you attack other ships that aren't wanted. This includes ships you are shooting for a mission as it is still an illegal activity unless they are marked wanted in the current system - meaning they may be wanted but elsewhere and you'd still be targeted for destroying them.

I'm glad you're excited to come back, too many people give up at first challenge. Good Luck!

Hi, early on you are best to take trading missions. Look for one's that ask you to take something somewhere, rather than go and get something, that way you don't have to buy anything. Not as exciting as fighting but gets you some cash so you can equip for fighting if that's what you want to do, also gives you practice handling the ship without the pressure of being shot at.

Attacking anyone who isn't wanted will get you a bounty. Some missions ask you to do stuff that could get you into trouble, you just have to weigh up the risk/reward. Even attacking someone who is wanted can also draw fed attention to you. After scanning someone, check in your left panel under targets and check their affiliation. If they are, for example, wanted by the Alliance and affiliated to Arcturus Liberals and you are in the Arcturus System, the local feds are likely to be on their side if you start popping at them.

My first night of gaming went a bit better. Although I am still struggling with my joypad controller, I have managed to do some missions and even fight off an interdiction by a Viper in my Sidewinder, with the help of some system authority eagles of course.... but I got the killing blow, which brought me a nice 13k bounty!

Did some exploration in a nearby border system, too, but still have to travel further away to turn the data in where there is demand for it.

By now I have my freagle kitted out with twin gimballed burst lasers and upgraded power distributor, which makes hitting targets without a joystick so much easier... and managed to bring down a wanted Asp Explorer, only this time a federal eagle stole my bounty.

Currently trying to hunt down pirates for a mission in federal space. Hope I will find some. Hunted down two wanted ships I identified in supercruise, but they don't seem to count as pirates. I wonder whether I need to be interdicted for the ship to count as pirate...

You need to find wanted ships in the USS that pop up I supercruise for it to count, hope this helps :)

Those hunt pirate missions seem to be really hit and miss, no sign of them anywhere sometimes. They must be hiding in Andromeda galaxy :).

Thanks for the replies guys,

Makes more sense as to why I was being shot, as they all said wanted so I was confused. Is it possible to start again? If so will I still get a eagle, also realised at one point last night I had 14K in bounties but lost it when they destroyed me.

Is there a way to get away from federal security before they blaze you, I have tried running with afterburners and then jumping but they always blaze me before it charges?

Is it possible to start again? If so will I still get the starting eagle, such and bad start I would be better starting again I think.

U can find pirates in every Nav beacon near stars. Pirates will scan you for any goods and if you don't have anything in your cargohold they will start to complain and move to another ship so you can recognize pirates from their behaviour like that.Note that not every wanted ship is pirate!
