First outing ... lol

Well after watching footage on you tube for the last few weeks finally came the day when I could purchase this game ...

I'm a total noob and I don't have a clue what I'm doing yet ... I'm still struggling with basic star navigation and can only just about launch and dock ... :)

So my first venture out in my new Sidewinder was today ... armed with 100Cr and no cargo I was just trying the ropes of docking and trying to navigate ... I left Bose and set a course for the nearest station ... not having a clue what to do ... on route I was interdicted ... as I slowed down shots started pounding into me ... as my aggressor started laughing at me "hahahaha" and shouting "Die scum" ... lol I did not even deploy my weapons I tried to out run him but still being green I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do if I want to escape ... he overshot me and I pressed a button on my stick that brought up my weapons and I locked onto him ... it said he was wanted and dangerous ... I tried to evade him again but he was back on my six ... my only course of action was to fight, I did not want too but it was do or die, I hit my reverse thrusters and got onto his six and started to give him a taste of his own medicine ... after no more than a minute what I can only presume was an Ai ship came to join in the attack with myself after a minute or so his ship exploded and I collected a bounty of 2'223 CR :D ... there was also some cargo floating I locked onto it and it was Beer ... lol ... and that was my first outing ... Oh I also received a fine of 488 CR after the battle but I've not a clue what that was for ... now I just need to work out how to sell it before I get too drunk drinking it :p

You were probably fined by local security pilot, who came in to help you and than scanned you after that cargo pick up. If you scoop up a cargo like this it will register as stolen and every cop is free to fine you and put a wanted status on your head. So, think up a way to avoid cops, while you make your way to the black market, where stolen cargo can be dumped. If you're anywhere near SOL, visit Altair system, there is a black market out there, "tereshkova outpost". Black markets can be found in many systems, but not in all of them. After docking, go to "Contacts", this is where black market may be.

Finally, visit a faction, by which you were fined and pay off the fine, before it increases. You can find all the info on fines and bounties in the left panel of your cockpit.

Hi Moriarte thank you indeed sir for all that info ... I'm bowled over with just how immersive Elite is ... there is just so much to learn its mind blowing ... but in a great way if you know what I mean ... I think I might just jettison that illegal Beer off my ship as I'm just not savvy enough yet to really know what I'm doing and I don't want to end up wanted :rolleyes: ... well at least not during these early days when I'm just finding my feet :)

A similar thing happened to me the other night. I was 20 metres above the landing pad of an outpost and thrusting down when I ran out of oxygen and exploded. Another 10 seconds and I would've made it.

Hey there, I'm completely new to the game and a little confused about something. How did you even manage to play the game? Did you buy Beta Access or did you get the Mercenary Edition. I've bought the mercenary edition and I can't even figure out how to download the launcher.

Lol ... you will crap yourself when you first venture out ... well I did heehee ... you feel so vulnerable ... but that just gives you a massive buzz as well :)

Unfortunately you can't yet. Beta/Gamma access is now closed and the mercenary edition is a preorder for the release, so you'll have to wait until the 16th of December.

Hi ... I downloaded mine during the early hours of Monday morning 24/11 ... I was able to select and purchase the Beta ... Mercenary edition is the pre-order full game version with extras ... that's only available to download on 16th Dec.

I believe you (Merc package) will be allowed to download the launcher and play the tutorials later this week, possibly Wednesday. That may take some of the edge off the waiting. In any case it never hurts to get your control scheme firmly locked down.
