First proper trip out

Out on my first proper exploration trip in my Asp Explorer the good ship "Ronseal". Currently 5600ly from Sol. Not been this far before.
Ultimately aiming for Sag A.
Original plan of straight-lining it there and back has gone out the window (not literally thank goodness!) and instead I'm loving my meandering trip to look at shiny things.
One thing I'd never noticed before but absolutely love now I've spotted it (late after 13 months of playing) is the way that the galactic core gets brighter and appears in more detail as you supercruise away from the light pollution of the star in your current system! Magical!
Can't wait for my first black hole, and there is a nebula that just keeps on getting closer. Feel another detour coming on.
Guess I'll see you all much later.
Fly safe.

Oh, and Radio Sidewinder rocks!

Myself and everyone else at Radio Sidewinder wishes you a safe journey Commander. We hope to keep you entertained during your long trip.

Good luck CMDR o7

Oh, and I agree about Radio Sidewinder. I've just spent 4KLY in a Hauler and it's kept me sane :)

Thanks for listening to Radio Sidewinder Commander. Keep sane! :)

Not taken me as long as I thought. 2800 Ly to go to Sagit A after a lovely meander taking in over 1500 systems (I think). Think I might explore a proton star field on the way home. Take a bit more cash home! Loving the views still and have 2 ELW I'm hoping no-one else gets their name on before I get back. Hopefully more to come.

Still listening to Radio Sidewinder, but at the times I play its all getting a bit too instumental for me so Hutton Orbital Radio has stepped in with some good old fashioned Rock and Pop.

Fly safe all.

Glad you enjoy exploring and good luck on your trip. BTW I'm assuming you meant neutron star fields, afaik there is no such thing as a proton star and no way I can think of such a thing could hold itself together :)

Best of luck commander. It's great to hear someone new to exploration enjoying it. Don't forget to sign the SagA visitors book when you get there!

Have just done exactly that although struggling to upload anything but a rubbish JPG picture, tips?? Also just found your post with your multi water world system 2 jumps from Sag A, may go visit!

:) Please let me know if you do visit. I MAY have scanned everything in there because it was a bit special but I usually don't so there may be something left to tag. I am not sure why your jpegs have come out square but I imagine that's your problem. By the way, like your Asp paint job especially as I have the same one :)

On the final stages of return trip now. Hoping to get the last 3500ly done in a marathon tonight when kids asleep and wife away.
Been fun but ready for a change now. Intrigued to see how the scans I've got progress my explorer rank and bank balance. Not as much as I initially thought will be my guess. Still over 2500 system scans (not all planetary bodies) with plenty first discoveries and a fair few neutrons and about 10 earth likes and enough water worlds that I lost counts should get me a chunk. A few close encounters with close binaries and neutron stars has left the good ship Ronseal a bit battered hence slightly early return.
Just need to avoid being rammed to death on my way to a station it seems.
Wish me luck!

Back!!!
Arrived Binney Horizons in HIP 105408 just now. Docked listening to "The Blue Danube". Very sedate and peaceful, even remembered to ask for docking permission.
Off to sell data, then I badly need to destroy something, and don't really care if I die in the process.
Need a different thing to do, but loved my long trip in the black. Might go again but probably not for a while, new goals and different shiny things to aim for right now!
And Ronseal needs a spruce up and polish.

Well done!

I just recently got back from my lo g distance jaunt (went out past Rosette Nebula until the stars thinned out and I hit about 8300lys out). First thing I did after selling all the data was to buy a Viper (never had one before and i didnt want to change my Asp) and fly to the nearest Nav beacon for some good old fasioned pew pew :)

reminds me I gotta try and get so e pics in here, found some cool places out there.

Fly safe :)

Decided to head back out into the black with the good ship Ronseal

Got a bit fed up of never finding stuff to engineer with and after spending a week getting to 8% tycoon rating decided to just drop it all, get back into my Asp X and head out.

Aiming for Colonia and Jaques for a looksee before hanging a right and passing through the neutron field on my way out to Beagle point. Doing it right this time.

On that note, already loving my 5A fuel scoop, took a 3A to Sag A, and a level 2 engineer upgrade to FSD range. 35 and change LY range and about half the time to refuel whilst scanning star and deciding if anything else worth effort.

Nice to be back in a ship that handles in SC and normal flight too after hauling in a tradeconda!!!

Already being distracted by standard binaries.

Bring on neutrons and stuff no-ones ever seen before.
