First PVP "fair" fight

I've been PvPed before, but always by pirates and always with me on the disadvantaged side. Sometimes I outrun them, sometimes I surrender and drop cargo, one time I had my engines shot out and then I dropped cargo. Guy who did it was gentlemanly enough not to blow me up afterwards.

Yesterday I was in a combat zone, fighting criminal thugs around Hope in Gateway. And as I'm taking on an NPC Python in my Clipper, I noticed something odd.

To read my story-like account (and to save time re-writing the whole thing), I forward you here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=103457&page=4&p=2402698#post2402698

Some notes: Guitarpick is not the CMDR's name (name and shame policy and all). And while I did find the tactic sneaky, I am not upset by the event. It was actually the most excitement I've had in the game yet. Amazing how taking on NPCs rarely ever worry me (though Elite NPCs are much more of a force to be reckoned with now), but throw a PC in the mix and all bets are off. My heart was pounding the whole time.

I know there are hardcore PvPers and those who avoid PvP by in large, but what about people who don't actively seek out PvP but get a thrill and embrace it when that element finds them? Anyone like that here?
