First scan mission ever and amazing thanks to cmdr

Thought after 700+ hours i do something new, yep bcs there's still something new to do for me [yesnod].
I take the scan mission and think what will it be like. I use the ADS and see what planet i have to go to.
Arriving at the planet it gives me a poi , which changes position as i draw closer to it. I think to myself "this is new and nice", not just see it and land.
As i have the last changing position i see a fellow cmdr on the surface. My heart bumps a bit more, is he/she friendly?? I send a message "o7 fellow cmdr, all going well".
He/She almost immidiately sends me a greeting. I go to the outpost and get in my SRV to scan the public data pole (dont know the correct name :D).
I get a message "ship under attack". Heart goes quickly now and a bit of sweat comming to my palms. S%$#, forgot to dismiss my ship. I dismiss my ship and start seeing a big laser right in front of me and hear: shields lost. OMG OMG OMG, quick quick drive for your life!!!!. i see on my radar it is a big Cutter, the cmdr i just had a friendly greeting with. I think i am way way quicker with manouvering in my little srv then him/her in the Cutter. So i run like hell, full pips to engines and be a yellow belly.
Oh no its a SLF now, those i cant out manouver.
The ground was littered with rocks, it was a really bumpy ride. Then i RP a bit: please please i have 108 kids at home. turning, bumping & rolling over i have my shield back online. But in the moment just before i die an horrible death on a planet surface, i give the message: " OMG i'm meeting my maker now.
The screen goes POOF and i am full of adrenaline and stil in flee mode, and......... back in my ship.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! that was a great feeling.

My mission still okay??? yeah luckliy all okay and i can go and turn it in.
I'm SC and i see the cmdr, he/she give me an: How was that??

I explained the feeling and how wonderfull this encounter was for me. Also for him/her, bcs its not so easy to hit an SRV at full speed turning and rolling.
I can imagine. Just some friendly talk afterwards and we both went our merry way.

This was really cool. Still am so happy with this game even after 700+ hours.
Thanks Cmdr to make my evening!!!! next time i take your cutter with my SRV :D[yesnod][big grin]

Fear really brings you into the moment, doesn't it.

I love those moments, and that's why I usually play in Open. :)

I had a similar situation at an Anarchy CG station. A pair of CMDRs in torpedo bombing Anacondas where laying waste to all who were docking and undocking.
When I dropped in to normal space, I could see the carnage.
I was in my mission running Python at the time, well shielded, poorly armoured, but can do 450m/s.
So, when I got their attention (which didn't take long), I took them on a long tour around the back of the station, multicannons rounds wizzing past, boosting between all of the rotating station parts, did a bit of fancy FA OFF flying backwards through it too.
Then when I dragged them far enough back, I boosted straight back to the front, and pulled of the best "swish" through the slot at 300~ms I'd ever done, and parked up safe and sound.

Then when I undocked, and went to boost past them, my gamepad disconnected, and I sat there like a melon while a large swarm of torpedoes and multicannon rounds vapourised my poor Python. :p

But I laughed it off and made a new friend. :)
He said I was cool, because I didn't cry, or Clog, and flew like a pro. :D

The Commander you exchanged a friendly hello with in SRV's then went back to his ship and attacked yours?

I Saw him flying near the planet and we hailed and sended greetings as fellow cutter flyers. I forget about it and just land and go to my SRV, scan the pole and then all happend :).

That's one of the biggest drawcards to Open; it isn't entirely predictable and interactions can go pretty much in any direction; makes it a bit more meaningful. It's why a lot of us play in open; not to just shoot a bunch of people, or to be some kind of food for PVP people (both tend to be popular if not extreme viewpoints) but the fact that it's not entirely able to be controlled. The unpredictability, in a game where we otherwise have quite predictable mechanics, can really be something.

This. All day long.

I grow tired of hearing people griping about "griefers". The danger is what makes the game fun, people.

Well done OP for getting it. :)

Uh yea? Make it all worth while eh??
Nothing like a "Hello" in one breath then I'll blow up your parked ship in the next.
Gives me the warm fuzzies alright.
