First Success!

Well, I finally reached a point (playing since Beta) where I could afford a scantily fitted out Anaconda and took the plunge to go exploring. After all, the best E;D community stories have been based around exploring!

Not knowing what I was doing, I fitted the best FSD, Thrusters and lightweight D modules for the rest as well as decent fuel scoop and AFMU. Well, I've used the AFMU a lot already - binary star system (my fault too!) made me burn up a little too much.

So I plotted an economical route in a random direction and discovered... that a lot of commanders had already trodden the same path, well, I did notice that their were seams of systems discovered by different commanders, so I crossed these and only 300ly from my starting point, I made a first genuine discovery - a system that hadn't been tagged. Not much to talk about, mostly ice bodies, but I was the first to scan it...

Two days in to my journey, and I have discovered not only a large amount of untagged systems, but today, my first Earth Like World!! Yes my fellow commanders, I am now a dedicated explorer.

What made me laugh most, is that investigating the Galaxy map, I am still (relatively) so close to the bubble - so much more to discover!!

Welcome aboard Cmdr and good luck :) The Galaxy is really big indeed and there are many interesting things to see there

Welcome on board. Have fun out there and if you find anything really spectacular, unusual or pretty don't forget to take a picture and show it off.

Welcome to the Black Commander!
A week or so out there and you'll have a few million to play with on your return.
A few suggestions:
You may want to D-rate or downsize everything except your FSD, Fuel scoop* and AFMU* to save mass, thereby increasing your jump range. (*= 0 mass)
You DO have an ADS and a DSS, don't you?
As mentioned above, a mining laser wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if you're low on jumponium materials.

Is this within your budget? https://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda...02-----3h044i--0s0sv42i2f00.Iw18ZlA=.Aw18ZlA=

Thanks for the advice, i'm returning to the bubble, decided that my outfitting wasn't quite up to scratch, but have learned a great deal going forward.

I'll post some pics and update the Earth Like World database shortly.

I'll be back in the black soon enough as I only managed to get about 1500ly awayfrom the bubble!

Well, took a break over Christmas and started again. Weirdly, about 5kly found an amazing system with 4ww in amongst 60 bodies. Then next system an ELW. Have pics and will post in the list once i make landfall again.

You've got mining lasers, right (- oh god, am I banging on about it now?!?!?)?

because of you (I followed the story and was watching the live stream of your rescue) I am probably taking one on my first deep space adventure :)

Congratulations!

You never forget your first untagged ELW :)

not at the moment, it's the problem when only playing a couple of hours a week over several nights.... real life tends to get in the way
Downloading and installing EDD only takes a few minutes and it then runs and automatically syncs in the background, not consting you any time or effort. Personally, I very much enjoy having a log and visualisation (2D and 3D) of my own travels. Give it a try, you won't regret it :)
