First time Conda trader....

Felt a little bit of the grind creeping up on me, so used some savings and bought the anaconda to try, for the first time, some trading. I literally know nothing about trading or owning a conda, have made all my credits bounty hunting with an FAS and smuggling with an ASP.

I'm not begging for trade routes, that's just lazy as hell....I'm just looking for some tips as a first time Conda owner whos going to try out trading, also, for the first time.

What an amazing game, by the way, gives you the ability to, at a moments notice, change gears and play it from a different angle, brand new like the day it came out!
Cheers, CMNDRS

Guess it's the same with Tronda than with any other trading ship - a matter of finding a working route...

Don't wimp out too much in what comes to defenses - them 'condas are the among slowest ships there is in what comes to flying in a straight line. Get a D4 shield (to max out cargo space) and fill the utility slots with shield boosters - that setup is okay for some NPC bountyhunting too, and will get you unscratched out of any NPC interdiction.

Pulse turrets on a Tradeconda are fine - with a couple of multicannons if things get serious. If you get interdicted by anything that lands on a small pad you can basically ignore it.

I tend to find a nice trade route and then equip the ship so it has just enough jump range to do it - improving/downgrading shields & power as necessary.

Love my 'Condas :D

Well, first, welcome to the Anaconda Owners Club! What I would do is to buy a Sidewinder (don't fit it out much), and take a look around the nearby systems (only at the Large stations; ones the Anaconda can dock at), and take a good look at the Commodities Market. Once you find a viable route, go with it. If there isn't a good route, sell the Sidewinder, get back into the Anaconda, and head off 100LY and try again.

When you DO find a good route set up a Cobra for small cargo runs. Sometimes there may be a decent light cargo run, and it may lead to a decent large cargo run. This happened to me, and I found a route that averaged me 1,150CR profit per tonne each way.

I started doing some trading last night. Yeah, outfitted the conda with D rated most everything and turreted pulse and multis. I have 425 cargo i think. Currently in Empire Space trading Imp slaves (*crosses myself*) to Pirate Space, i think i was getting 3700 or 4000k per ton . I kinda cheated and listened to a friend telling me a good trade route.....thanks for the advice in finding my own though, that seems to be half the fun.

The conda is awesome, a little slow but you feel the weight and the power moving it around. Good money, but wow, this can get boring huh?

One of my trade routes has a nice Nav Beacon where I can practise my combat skills safely (it takes a LOT to hurt The Helping Hand, but when she is hurt so am I), and if I am stupid enough to hit (or kill) a clean ship it does not break the trade route (just makes it a bit more exciting), as the Nav Beacon is not at either end, just along the way.

The great thing about trading in a Conda is that you don't have to run from NPC interdiction and if you want you can trade in open. I used to run with:

* Around 1000 MJ shields (mostly using shield boosters and a small shield), enough to fight all NPCs and enough to hi-wake away from commanders.
* 4 small beam laser turrets (low mass but enough to kill NPCs)

This gave me a 19LY laden jump range.. which is lovely for trading.

In terms of it being boring it all depends.. I always used to start my gaming session with a spot of trading to keep my coin ticking up and then I'd move on to something else.. I used to find it quite relaxing when done in moderation. I just bought a trade cutter so I stilll do this.

totally depends on what you find boring, but yeah.

i set myself another goal and set up a 50 stop trade route between the 3 capitals alioth - sol - achenar and back, including some rares on the way.

this is what i did: get trading samples of high value goods. find the next stop. always along those lines of "crop harvestes sell good at agricultural economies", or " palladium sells good at high tech economies". my average profit was slightly above using 3rd party tools like coriolis.io, the time investement to set up a route without them was massive, the fun (for me) was massive, too.
