First time open play tonight

Have had quite a few player interactions in Open so far. Im always in open, I figure if you're playing, might as well play with the humans and the sub-humans :)

Yesterday a Viper interdicted my Asp in Orrere; my only salutation at being pulled from supercruise was a hail of multicannon lead. I turned, burned past him with four pips in engines and sent him back to station to cash in some insurance.
His shields lasted about 5 seconds and his hull maybe ten against my twin beams, twin cannon and twin seeker missiles. I don't think he was fully fit, but got a shock as my Asp is.
I spent about 1200cr rearming and got a 200cr bounty lol.

While I was in a Type-6 it was a whole different story though :D

I was flying through the old worlds in a shieldless hauler this morning.

Honestly you really have nothing to worry about.

Friday nights are usually good fun, lots of people online.

It's threads like This that need to have more exposure to show some balance to the constant 'I got shot in Open for no reason blah blah'.

Good to see lots of players having fun in Open.

Pleased to report a pleasant experience, lots of people happy to give me the time. Managed to keep ship intact 😁

Did get pirated and 'asked' to drop cargo which I duley obliged and I was free to go about my business.

All in all I'm converted, sure there might be a nasty experience lurking somewhere but found the experience more engaging.

I was expecting to see far more players than I did but I guess that's the vastness of space for you.

I'm going to head to one of the community project areas and see what happens.
Make a nice change from the loneliness of exploring, just returned from a 7000 ly trip

You know... I wish I had as much excitement and perceived danger as some other CMDR's when playing in open. Since release I have played in open 100% of the time and have been interdicted only three times. I have never been killed by another CMDR; not by a pirate, not in a war zone, not by a 'psychopath', never. Open is about as routine as real life to me.

Not sure who it was who spread this idea of open being a mode with constant pvp all the time everyday. That person is great at spreading misinformation and exaggerating facts, and should get a job in politics.

OP, it is great that you gave open a try and that you had a good experience. We need more posts like this.

I reset my account for triple elite been playing exclusively in open. I've only had three conflicts with players.
first one was in my asp got interdicted by a cobra had to run from him.
second was when I thought it was a good idea to take on Derath in a lesser equipped Python. Surprisingly he let me live, amazing fight that was.
last time I was cruising around fed space in my clipper got interdicted by a viper. He opened fire so I ran him down and killed him for the bounty on his head.
open is fun and usually very civil. Especially in empire space not one of these instances were in empire space.
i personally will only attack a player if they attack me, one of my friends, or has a huge bounty on their head. And are obviously looking for PvP when I am as well. Otherwise I leave other commanders alone.

Ive moved from solo to mobius group now... Seen a couple of hollow squares around but need to learn this comms thingy...
