First time trying ED with Vive and Hotas. Couple problems

And it was amazing! I did not get that much motion sickness unlike in normal controller. It's like my brain knows whats going on inside the cockpit. As long as I concentrate on enemy in the map when I lose it in my front. I can keep rolling around no problem. But I had a problem with the cockpit UI, when I turn my head left or right. The monitors disappear or lag every time I move my head even a little, and its super hard to do anything, like asking for docking or look around the menus. How can I fix that, after I could work around the menu problem I could stop doing tutorials and venture forth in real game. Also is the resolution correct in VR mode? 1080x1200 per eye, when game says its 1200x768 or something.

edit: Thanks dree for the headsup, I am using the keyboard also so now I am getting hang of the buttons and I can keep my monitors in my ship without popping out all the time.

If you have lag look at your settings in VR - You can try VR low and see if the lag improves. Without knowing your specs (GPU, CPU, Ram, HDD) it would be hard to help beyond that. The resolution in the display settings has no effect on your resolution in Vive

You can disable the screens showing when you look at them in the settings, then if you need one you can press 1,2,3 or 4 to show them and they will not go away if you look the other way. I call them with Voice Attack.

I got no in game lag with VR high. Sorry if my explanation was not clear. I am talking about the monitors that pop up when I move my head on the left or right. They don't seem to stick around long enough when I try to read them. They just lag in and out whenever I try to read them. Also my specs are Gigabyte G1 970, I5-2500k 4,5ghz, 16gb Ram.

I was just thinking about using voice attack. Too bad I do not have any extra dosh to buy those voice packs. Is it hard to set up? Also could you tell me exact spot in options for disabling the menu look.

Remap the keys for the menus to HOTAS buttons. I don't even look at the screens when I request docking. I just click my menu button, click over 2, click down 1, and click "OK."

Enjoy the game in VR :) Its like flying the ships again for the very first time. Nothing better than being IN the actual cockpit.

If the SRV gets you motion sick, check the graphics options. There is an SRV setting which can help settle the bounciness a bit by auto-leveling your perspecive based upon the planet's horizon. I was able to tolerate 2+ hours last night in the SRV. Without the option enabled I could do about 15 minute before feeling like I needed a break.

I love traveling around now in the SRV before it was a chore now it all feels more instinctive and I steer it like I do my car if it goes out of control. Motion sickness only happens to me if the fps is down and the vision starts to jump, other than that if its smooth I can play for hours in the Vive.

Everything looks sooo big now, I even got up and walked around my cockpit and was amazed at how big it was, puts a lot into perspective now. I also like how I can target things when I look at them and don't need to have my ship or SRV facing them anymore.
