first trade run.

Well I sucked it up and decided to ignore my distaste for paypal and got into the beta.
I am glad that my utter newbish flying about as I struggle to remember all the controls was in a solo game.
I made my first trade run made a wopping 158 cr.
navigation is right now pretty hard can't seem to figure out how to head to a navlocation after leaving a station I fly around in circles hopeing to spot where I need to fly too next. gotta be a better way.

Look at the left nav panel move the cursor down to a station and select it to lock the computer onto the location you should now have a large circular waypiont with the distance to it highlighted, accelerate towards the marker keeping the throttle in the middle of the blue zone of your speed indicator (stops any overshooting). When you get under 1mn you will see the message 'safe to exit supercruise'.
Job done

Once you have a destination locked in, look just to the left of your Radar and you will see a small circle with a blue dot.

You now need to get the blue dot into the centre of the circle and you will see your nav point, hint if you can't see it you are 180 degrees out :)

You'll make more money from doing missions. I had one earlier to source 2 tons of superconductors for a payout of nearly 70,000 credits! Just use the trade map to find who's shipping them out and it's quick and easy money.

As for navigation you have a compass, this is a circle with a ball in it. get the solid ball in the centre and that will be pointing you in the direction you want to go so long as you've selected a destination or target.

Welcome aboard Commander! We all started small, give it a month and you'll be handing out advice to the novices :)

I hope to see you out there sometime.

Fly safe, and may every sale be at a profit.

Blimey, that's much better than me!
My first mission I took 2 units of aluminium to a destination, got distracted by a pirate on the way, and arrived late.
By which time the late cargo was reported stolen, I got a failure fine, and got a fine for carrying stolen cargo at the destination.
So about 1600 cr in fines, with assets down to 750 cr after repairs and fuel, so in debt nearly 1k !
Fortunately fines aren't due immediately, so within a couple of evenings I'm up to 55k cr.

It's a godd idea to look at the Navigation map for the trade routes, though you should be aware that this doesn't mean you make money. If you're trading alone always look for "High". More than often even with "Med" demand I was unable to sell without making losses.

Apart from Superconductors, it's a good idea to find out the (legal) goods that make lot of money. However you need to fly around a lot to find out (average) low and high prices. For missions however it's easier to look for the time, the number of tons and of course the "fine" in case something happens. Good luck!
