First VR experience. Oh my ...

Picked my new rift today. Had to get a dvi to hdmi cable which is a pain because it doesn't seem to support my ultra wide screen resolution.

Faffed around after that to get the whole thing working but then, it worked. And how. I'm sat here now typing this after simply launching, watching the station spin around and docking again which made me realise just how big everything is! Suddenly reality feels like virtual reality, I'm still trying to get my balance back!

It's going to take some getting used to but seriously, I've never experienced anything like it.

I may be late to the party, but wow, it's quite some party.

Welcome! Welcome!

If you want to take it even further in the future, I can personally recommend these three feedback devices which link into your audio channels:

Kor-fx vest (Front left and right)
Subpac M2 (Centre, Sub)
Subpac S2 (Rear left and right).

You can actually 'feel' the game when using those! I'd say the M2 is the best but it's the most expensive, Kor-fx is about 1/3 of the price of the subpacs but it has less intensity.

Hope that helps even more :)

I was also late, got into the party last winter, but I know exactly your feeling!
Its a completely new experience, biggest thing since moving to hotas from mouse/kb.

Youll never want to play ED (or similar games) without VR ever again!

Welcome Commanders Sergio Smegolia and Ofan to how Space REALLY should be experienced! I have been viewing Space (and other things) properly for well over a year now.

I had done a lot of research before I got mine.

I've been managing to not pull the trigger for a long time now, but I caved on Friday. I knew stuff was going to look way bigger and the UI would be visibly more 3d and holographic awesomesauce and that even the system map is like "WOW" compared to a flat panel, but when I strapped in and fired it up it was completely otherworldy, the daft grin I had on my chops as I navigated the mailslot shouting to myself "This is sodding massive" made my family and poor dog fear for me.

Money (well, bitcoins) well spent!

Pretty much the same here except with real money! And for some reason it seems to make me swear more often, oh my &£@£&£;god!

Download Apollo 11 VR experience. It makes me sob everytime :D

Yupp, that one is absolutely breathtaking! As far as gaming goes, Elite and Dirt Rally is the two best implementations of VR ive tried, but for an experience nothing so far beats Apollo 11.
When the engines cutoff and your drifting silently in freefall it almost feel like im lifting off the chair :D

Dirt is next on my to do list, I mean I love that gave on a normal flat screen I feel like it will be game changing in VR! Just need to dig my wheel and whatnot out.

Welcome to the real world!

As the others already stated, going back to flat is hard.

I just got myself a new computer after 1 year underpowered VR and I am even more enamoured with the experience.

Welcome to the party, and its only going to get bigger & better. [big grin]

As many other have mentioned here the world of VR is a game changer, Its like a quote from the Eagles song Hotel California "We are programmed to receive. You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!". After experience of VR you will never want to back to flat.
