"First Wonder" Kickstarter

Hi people,

Do any of you remember the games MDK, Earthworm Jim, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Armed and Dangerous and the industry names Shiny and Planet Moon Studios? Well, the people behind these games and their respective development studios are making a new game intended to be a spiritual successor to Giants. Their studio is called Rogue Rocket Games and the game is called First Wonder.

Check out the kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/roguerocket/first-wonder

If the games and studios I mentioned don't sound familiar, I urge you to YouTube up some videos of these games to see what they're all about. As a brief guide: Giants was a combination RTS action adventure game played from a third person perspective. You built a base to aid you in your adventures in the game world and each map was enormous. Aside from this, the game was hilarious, peppered with witty British humour.

All of the games by Shiny and Planet Moon Studios have been very unique to the gaming industry and I know I'd love to see them re-enter the fray and shake things up a bit, just as the did in the 90s and 00s!

Cheers :D

I confess that MDK was a little before my time, but I played and loved Giants! I liked Armed and Dangerous too, but only had the demo. I believe it's on Steam now, I think I might just have to buy it :)

It seems like the campaign hasn't really taken off which is odd because the original Giants CK is held in high regard, not to mention MDK and EWJ. I think there are a few reasons such as it's asking for a lot compared to other recent similar successes like Yooka-laylee. I heard they had some trouble with their Thunderclap campaign but also the media sites just haven't picked up on it.

I had "MDK", and I still have "Armed and Dangerous" (you have to do a tweak to get it to work on modern PCs (unless Steam have sorted that out), but it is worth the effort). Strange weaponry ("Smallest Black Hole in a Cardboard Box", Landshark Gun" and so on), and amusing video clips ("You are both... French", weapons hit the floor, hands hit the sky, "We surrender!" and they run away), but a real hoot.

Yeah I imagine there would be some cost involved for any game publications to promote the campaign with an article. It's a shame. You never know, though; there's still a couple of weeks to go.

I watched a video of that mind trick sketch from the game, I did lol quite loudly at the punchline. Love it!
