Fish and Grain...Fish and Grain....How I have...

Oh How I have missed thee.....

I miss trading thee for hours on end. Having my ship smell like a cross between a wheat field and an aquarium.

The endless minutes and hours flying through space...just to deliver you to hands and stomach of people who need you so desperately.

I haven't felt or 'smelt' that smell in 30 years....oh how I have missed thee!!

BTW anyone know where I can get a cargo extension? Do they sell them anymore in the game? 4 spaced just doesn't see to be enough anymore.

There's no cargo extensions at present, your only option is to buy a bigger ship.
IIRR the hold sizes are;

Sidewinder, Eagle - 4 tons
Viper - 8 tons
Hauler - 16 tons
Cobra - 36 tons
Transporter - 100 tons
Anaconda - 228 tons
Type 9 - 440 tons

If you're looking to upgrade I'd aim for Sidewinder - Hauler - Cobra - Transporter - Type 9 - Anaconda. The Transporter's a surprisingly nice ship to fly but the Type 9 is horrid.

Ahhh no cargo extension?? Wow...I am sure they will have it in the main edition...or hope so :)

So I have ALOT of trading to do with 4 tons I guess....

The diligent farmers of Eranin appreciate you doing your part for the survival of humankind amongst the stars, comrade. :D

On a more serious note, however - if you still have a Sidewinder, I recommend doing courier missions. They pay a lot better and you usually only need room for a single unit of cargo. Load up the rest of your bay with cheap items you think the destination world could have a use for (--> galmap!).

You'll have your Hauler in no time, and then you can go trucking for real!

Yup still have the original ship....just trucking away. :) I guess I am too sketchy to leave the two systems I am going in between now. With these little lasers I have, it took me 35 min to kill this one pirate that I decided to confront vs run away from. Had him in my sights alot...just that the lasers didn't do much against him.

If you're after quick cash, I recommend you go exploring - if you check out unidentified signals you can often find cargo cans lying around in space waiting to be scooped. Faster profits but be aware that they're flagged as stolen so avoid being scanned by the cops.

Alternatively if you're a decent pilot, or fancy the practice, go to one of the combat zones, pick a side and shoot things - you can rack up kills pretty quick in a starting Sidewinder. (I did this earlier, came away from Eranin 2 with a few thousand credits worth for fifteen minutes of flying.) In that case be aware that you lose your kill vouchers if your ship is destroyed, so leave if your ship takes heavy damage! Er, also be aware there's nasty players around like yours truly who may be on the other side. ;)

Yeah I thought of that...until it took 35 min of shooting with my pea shooter to take down one pirate.... I figured I would wait till I got at least an upgraded laser :)

Not to worry, I'm sure you will grow more adventurous in time. ;)

If it helps, you also don't have to take the first courier mission that pops up. When I started, I deliberately only took jobs within a ~5 system bubble, spending a lot of time lurking on the pad, just waiting for the "right" mission to pop up. They refresh about every two minutes or so, and in ED, even waiting can be fun just because the cockpit feels so much like a home in itself. Okay, friends to talk to help as well, or tabbing out to browse the Elite forums. :D

Also, not every station has a black market - the only place where you could sell them. I believe Chango Dock in I Bootis has one, though, that is right around the corner in the starting area.

The Conflict Zone around Eranin II is also a good advice! If you join the side of the Eranin freedom fighters, you often get to shoot down flimsy mass-produced Federation F63 Condor fighters that make Star Wars Imperial TIEs look heavily armoured and well protected! Plus, the militia will be there to help, so you won't be fighting alone.

Think I am going to do the Conflict Zone tonight.....need to use this Thrustmaster HOTUS Warthog setup for what it was built for! (Feel like I am wasting money!)

Ok so just find Eranin II on the map and head there? Is there a space named the conflict zone?

Buy fish from Bootis and take to Aulin, buy agri-meds from Aulin and take to Bootis. Repeat.

Yup! It's pretty close to the planet itself - just orbit it in close proximity, it should pop up fairly quick then.

Have fun with your HOTAS!

Aye - get to around 1ls away and you should spot it. Top tip - to choose a faction press 3, then E all over to the end tab, pick one then have some fun :)

To add to that, after a while you will be able to purchase Terrain Enrichment Systems instead of Agri-Medicines. They have a big initial outlay so you will have to have some capital behind you to make it worth while.

When you are at the Federation Distress Signal (it's in close proximity to Eranin 2) make sure that you choose your faction. I think that Federation is the easier of the two sides but perhaps it depends on the day that's in it. If you don't pick a side you wont get credits. Make sure that you turn your credit in at the appropriate stations to get your cash.

I would recommend getting gimballed lasers. Though I suppose there is an argument to be made for learning the hard (manual) way.

After a bit you may wish to choose the High Intensity Zone. They are much bigger ships (fighting with the Eranin is easier, I think) so you may want to get an upgrade before you enter.

Any idea the average bounty for the kills there? Just wondering. :)

350cr I believe. But please note that you don't get the cash there and then. If you choose to fight with the Feds, for example, then you have to go to a Fed station and turn your bounty slips in (or whatever they are called).

Trading is currently way more profitable but not as much fun imo. Once you have sufficient cash from trading (it starts to roll in eventually) you can get a Viper and do some real damage. The idea is that you should have enough cash reserves from trading to cover the costs of paying the insurance (several times over) should your ship get destroyed.

Eranin side is easier at the fed distress beacon, i've found. Fed fighters are rather brittle and their loadout doesn't change, whereas the Eranin sidewinders might be packing all sorts of surprises.
The high-intensity conflict zone sort of resembles hunting big game with dogs; lots of Eranin craft nibbling away at clumsily-piloted Anacondas. Currently there's no monetary bonus for taking on larger ships in the faction conflict zone, so i'd only recommend the high-intensity zone for fun rather than profit.
