Fitting of a viper

So i've seen a lot of people who like to mix multicannons and lasers on a viper for bounty hunting and it made me wonder, has anyone else tried fitting four multicannons on their vipers? I have been trying alot of combination but so far the best for me has always been fixed mount multies. It just **** up, even against shields!

Anyone else sharing my multicannon love?
 
Yes, that will work also. You need to factor in the cost of ammunition. Lasers do not require ammo, just energy. So if fitting 4 multi-cannons, I would only go after high bounty targets to compensate for the cost of ammo.
 
My Class 2 hardpoints are fitted with 2E Pulse Lasers, and my Class 1 hardpoints are fitted with 1C Cannons (with tracking). It makes bounty hunting very fun, especially since I'm firing "missiles" without them actually being missiles. For example, if you take a look at this video that I posted to YouTUbe the other day, I do a lot of strafing during combat to try to avoid taking damage head-on. When I'm out and out flying, my hat switch is for thrusters, so I'm assentially controlling throttle with my left hand, pitching/rolling/yawing with my right hand, using my thumb to use thrusters, forefinger for lasers, and thumb also for firing cannons. It makes for a busy time, so I'll probably adjust it at some point, but I love the way the cannon fire streaks through space ;-) They do quite a bit of damage to unshielded targets, that's for certain! And purchasing ammo is quite cheap, something like 4-5k credits for both cannons if they're empty.

Too restrictive due to the above reason, greater cost and enforced cost in every fight. Not to mention you're going to suffer if your opponents ever fit reactive armour.

My opinion is balance is key. But if it works for you, go for it.

I use quad multicannons on my Viper too. It shreds everything.

Back in Beta 2 I was using quad MCs and it was beautiful. During Gamma 1 I switched to laz0rspewpew for a bit as ammo was made very expensive. After launch I switched back to the quad MCs which, to be honest, also help with the

I also used a class C KWS

During Beta I loaded out 4 auto cannons on my viper and had great success with it.
Yeah you got to pay for ammo, but at least auto cannon ammo is cheap, however running out of ammo does suck, and if you are in a conflict zone, you must leave the fun to go rearm :(

During Gamma and early parts of the release I ran around with 4 cannons on my viper. I kinda liked it better. It doesn't really chew away at a ship like auto cannons do, and the ammo cost is slightly higher. However its a hard hitter, and I was able to take out larger ships and sub systems more easily. I believe I killed an anaconda with 34% of his hull left with the cannons.

Another thing I did in Gamma before switching to quad cannons was loading out with 2 med cannons and 2 light frag cannons.

Frag cannons didn't work all that great on smaller ships, and they are quite costly to rearm. Plus small ammo capacity :(
However they do take out shields and larger ships very nicely.

Tried my luck with 2 med rail guns and 2 light frags. Railguns are nice big damage dealers but low ammo capacity and costly to rearm.
