Fitting Storage

Hello all,

I am cautiously optimistic about the new engineers system, however I do see a possible issue. It seems like if I want ships with different mods (if I roll them) I have to have multiple ships around to keep the fits. To me this seems like a waste of credits and just a way to clutter my hangers. I would really like to see frontier look into module storage and module shipping in game. If you're worried about people selling or trading their modified equipment, make it so they can't be jettisoned, if someone tries, there is a warning, and if they confirm it... poof, it's destroyed. Please give us the ability to store multiple fittings for our ships!

Thanks for your consideration of this idea.

Nope, simple no brainer stuff like this that would benefit everyone is on the back burner. But thank god we have audible flight directions for docking now.

I don't understand the reluctince to add this. If they are afraid of hoarding why not cap storage, or make it exponencially more expensive?

They aren't reluctant as far as i know. They do plan to add it, just doesn't seem to be very high on their "list".

It was addressed in the livestream and they want to add in ship transfer at the same time. My guess is maybe 2.2 or 2.3. Maybe 2.3 since that's all focusing on commander stuff.

Strange, it's a bit vague at the moment. Here's a snippet from the Livestream part 3.

Sandro say it will be possible, but not really straight forward.
Not storage per se, but transferring.

Defintively, it needs to be addressed.
We need this to be able to own several modules of the same type for our fleets.

Or simple things such as bringing your Cobra+Eagle outfit in a Type-9 over for an upgrade.
And/or move your weapons from station A to B, because you move base.

Feature Request IMO would be:
- Store ship modules in a secure location at stations, as containers
- Carry ship modules as cargo, when detached and stored in a container in the cargo hold
- Enable to mount/swap weapons from Active ship to passive ships, either direct to hardpoint or to/from storage.
- Deliver and get upgrades for these modules as well as live/enabled modules with engineers.

Additional features (later)
- Possible to hand off stored module-cargo to another pilot for transport.
- Possible to give away modules to my friends & family.

I just don't see what could be difficult about storage. If it's that difficult they could create a "ship" called " storage locker" that has 10 huge hardpoints and 10 class 8 internal slots for stuff. It's icon would look like a warehouse. You could purchase one for a few million credits and load it up with stuff

Already have cargo space in our ships so if we could just add a module as cargo and carry it in the hold that would do fine (for me anyway). Then just have any cargo-stored modules at the top of the list in the outfitting screen.

Personal storage space in station should be core game feature, not only now when they are adding module tuning, but generally. I don't understand why is this a problem.

Coming out with customisable items that allow modules to be unique without any kind of storage or inventory management is putting the horse before the cart.

Storage should have been in the game over a year ago.
