I did made it back! I'd like some clarification on my part, I did not finish the return journey entirely without life support. About halfway back to Explorer's Anchorage I made the decision to finish the journey with it on, coming to the realization that I wasn't happy at all with the tedium of refilling life support, on top of my FSD starting to malfunction
after running into so many stars and with no way to fix it. I wasn't having fun playing the game even after setting it down and coming back to it multiple times. It was my second job, just as tedious and mindless as the real one at the time. Not that I didn't stop and still explore on the way back
, either, part of it was also feeling extremely restricted in what I could do gameplay-wise.
After synthesizing my last life support at Byoi Aod EX-S c17-1 on September 14, 2019, I made the decision to turn it back on, buckle down, and get back to civilization. And in just two days I found myself sitting in Explorer's Anchorage.
I proceeded to spend the next two hours selling page after page of exploration data. I was so relieved to personally call this exploration voyage a success that I didn't even take a screenshot of my stats page before I left the station and self-destructed to get back to civilization. Thankfully EDDiscovery is a thing so I've been able to go back and grab some stats
Hyperjumps: 8000 (exactly!)
Distance traveled: 136,098 light-years
Time spent: 420 hours, give or take an hour
Level 3 scans: roughly 80,000
Highest payout: 25,472,763
Exploration profit: 3,991,634,142
