Five similar animals I wouldn’t mind in game

Don’t get me wrong I too would like many new animals over these five I have chosen. These would still be work to make but would be easier then a new model. I’m just saying if we got a few more similar animals I wouldn’t mind a few of these.

Blue Wildebeest I love the black subspecies as it was a unique surprise but it would be great to have a option.

Sumatran tiger less than 500 in the wild and quite popular in zoos it would make a excellent choice.

Asiatic lion a great alternative to the African lion. Numbers have slowly improved in the Gir Forest region of India but still susceptible to any diseases that could wipe them out. Somewhat popular in European zoos as well.

Another lion subspecies and a debatable one for sure. The Barbary lion extinct in the wild and a few zoos claiming to have pure blooded descendants. It was said to be the most robust lion subspecies and maybe the most impressive mane as well.

Masia Giraffe I feel this would make a great alternative to the reticulated subspecies currently on the roster. I believe this is the biggest subspecies and the unique pattern really makes these guys stand out.

I agree with new animals over similar looking ones.. Don't expect any of these actually making it in-game (or anytime soon)
Picked other ones.. Would picked some of your options.

I could see having a Malayan tapir and wouldn’t even mind the European bison so much. For a crocodile I would rather have a mugger or Nile subspecies. But of course I’d much rather have newer species instead like the American alligator. Agreed I only made the list in case we did get a few more similar subspecies to the final roster.

I think most people will agree to that.. I picked this croc because it's smaller - just to mix it up.. The spectacled caiman is a better choice imo, when I think about it again.
Did think about including the alligator and the roseate spoonbill (from a certain angle looks like a flamingo but the bill makes it very different) but wanted to limit myself to 5.

I think it's a given that we'll end up with more "clone" animals, but hopefully only where appropriate (that is to say, where the available species for the theme of the DLC basically require making clones). For example, an Australian DLC has no room for clones considering the number of iconic species that would need new rigs, whereas an African DLC could quite easily make use of the Indian rhinoceros rig, or the Japanese macaque rig to add new animals (or of course any of the antelope rigs).

Well, emus still need to use the ostrich rig....koalas may just do fine on the red panda rig. Kangaroos are the ones that need a unique rig

It depends on where you draw the line on 'similar animals'. The camel was built off of the zebra rig but most wouldn't consider it a clone, whereas the bears all use very similar animations (they are by no means identical, but you get my meaning).

Personally I think the whole rig-discussion is unnecessary, we are talking about similar looking animals.
I think it's safe to say, the rig would already be present in the game. :D

I wish Frontier would allow animal modding. Those "clone" species would be perfect for modders. They already do things like that but all the animals are overwrites.
Modded animals wouldn't be compatible with franchise I guess, but if it was for me, modded animals could simply be disabled there.

I agree as I see more and more people turning to mods. That’s another reason I sit back and admire from a distance is I don’t want to overwrite existing files and animals. The guys doing the mods have been doing it for years and are pretty trustworthy.

I also don't want to overwrite existing animal files. I how ever use a mod to have "frozen" like blue ice and another to have less yellow straw. And the polarbear, should I ever have one in y sandbox zoos with welfare on, needs a more realistic amount of space.

On non-clone animals I still trust Frontier, though. But modded clones that do not overwrite would add to the variety without taking up a slot in Frontiers workflow. And I miss the Malayan Tapir soooo much. I like it much more than the one we have. And Wisent. We so need more european animals. Which also should include the european wolf.

Someone also did a Przewalski horse out of a zebra. Perfect. Then again, with this specific animals the sounds wouldn't be right.

Double-wattled Cassowary - unique large bird species, adds a species from an underrepresented region

Sitatunga - swamp-dwelling semi-aquatic hoofstock species, is housed in mixed-species exhibits in real-world zoos with hippopotamus as well as many other species of hoofstock, and some primates (even gorilla)

Desert Bighorn Sheep - an endangered subspecies of bighorn, provides diversity for the American southwest region (an area well represented by exhibit animals in-game)

Caribbean Flamingo - an alternative flamingo species for New World exhibit areas, more colorful than the Greater Flamingo

African Spurred Tortoise - a common species in zoos, provides another opportunity for semi-arid exhibit areas. Is occasionally mixed with hoofstock species in real-world zoos.

Oh yes please, we need a more colorful and vibrant Flamingo! The ones we have are way too pale in comparision with the Flamingos I saw in zoos.

The Greater Flamingos in-game are appropriately colored for their species, they are the palest of the six flamingo species. Each flamingo species is a different shade of pink, with Caribbean/American flamingos being the most vibrant in color. My reason for including them is that they would be a nice contrast to the Greaters in-game and provide a flamingo option for New World exhibits.

Never said they weren't appropriately colored. I checked Flamingo spiecies after ypur post. Just said that it's not the kind of Flamingos I see in zoos. Where I live, other species are showen.

Got it, sorry I was confused. Not sure what region you're in but it seems in the US Caribbean and Chilean flamingos tend to be exhibited more in northern zoos, while Greater and Lesser flamingos seem more common in southern zoos. Of course there are exceptions to this, and I can't speak to what is common in other regions.
