Fix for XBox Live and Transaction Server connection issues

Hi All,

I've been playing this game for a couple of weeks now and have had very very annoying issues when playing like:

1. Connection to transaction server has been lost (open and solo modes)
2. Connection to XBox Live has been lost (open mode)
3. Getting into Hyperdrive and getting stuck when engaging and/or disengaging (Or engaging/disengaging takes upwards of 1 minute)
4. Getting into SuperCruise and getting stuck when engaging and/or disengaging (Or engaging/disengaging takes upwards of 1 minute)

For me #1 and #2 were insanely painful, getting disconnected at least 2-3 times every hour. And the only way to start playing again was to force quit the game and restart it.

After some searching online, I think I found the reason for these issues - ports on my Router.

First of all, I assigned a static ip address for my xbox using the following page:
http://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-xbox-one/

Then, I used this page to identify my router model and followed the instructions to open the necessary ports:

http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Xbox_Live_360/

After that, I cleared cache on my xbox using the following guide (don't know how necessary this was, but I did it anyway):

https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=207

After the above step my xbox started on it's own and I started playing again. Did this 2 days ago, approximately 12 hours of playing. Not a single disconnection yet :D.

Only once did it delay a bit in getting out of SuperCruise when I was interdicted, but it was much less than a minute (more like 30 seconds).

I may be repeating what someone else has described, but I couldn't find anything, so thought I'd post this here in case some noob such as myself has difficulties.

Cheers,
Cmdr Zang

I had to do that earlier. Every time I approached a station it crashed to menu. Fixed it though

Ah so that was the problem! That's whats recommended on the FD Support FAQ (linked in my post). I thought it was my router not having the right ports open :).

Thanks both for clarifying that :)

Think the other one that helps minimise problems is to properly exit the game, so once on the dashboard with the main tile with the game still running selected hit the menu/start button on the controller and choose exit from the pop up menu.

It helps reduce issues caused by leaving the game running all the time. It isn't just Elite that benefits from properly closing when finished either, personally it's a habit I have gotten into now with pretty much everything I do on the Xbone.
