Fix the Black Rhinoceros Neck

Resolved as of 1.14.1 update, thank you for listening to our feedback!

Dear Frontier,
Im super excited for the Arid animall pack, the animals look beautifull and you can see your team has worked hard on them.
But, Id like to ask for one change, and its nothing big.
The Black rhinoceros is keeping its head low, wich is not suitable for its species, Black rhinos tend to have their heads more raised and in a forwardposition, they graze from branches and not somuch ground vegitation.
The current head position makes it seem like its a white rhinoceros but with the head of a black one.
I think changing the heads position, wich would likely be editing the animations, would fix it to look accurately as the species.

Here we have the ingame model (picture from a content creator on twitter)

and here are some images of Black rhinos:

as you can see the heads are held higher, this is their natural position.
Frontier got the diffrence in forehead, and lips correct, but not the head position and the back hump, both of these are like a white rhino.

I hope in a future patch, this problem can be fixed.

Thank you for your time.

I hard agree.

The actual mesh itself, the model itself is a fine piece of work but the black rhinoceros, despite being an African rhino, cannot be fully realized using a fairly unedited white rhinoceros rig. The body especially looks far too much like the white rhinoceros

I know Frontier can make amazing animals so I hope they can consider taking in more player input and adjust this species.

I have a feeling this wont be changed. I mean, we ask for a Malayan Tapir change for years now and that would only be slight changes to the model. The head position of the rhino would probably require to rig edit it to adjust it to all of the animations. I sadly do not see it happening.

The Malayan Tapir probably also needs adjustments to the Rig due to major differences in Body Shape and Posture. This might be why they didn't do it yet, which also applies to Black Rhino, so sadly there is a big chance both won't be fixed.

I mean the rhino already does raise its head in game when interacting with certain things, so I can't imagine it would be hard to make it stay up there. Sure maybe they don't change some of the minor model issues but just raising the head already does wonders. Slap some more brown and tan color variants on it and you got yourself a really good rhino.

It should be fixed yes, but we still have a flying clouded leopard, a dislocated okapi and a not-malayan tapir so i think this one is hardly a priority. That said it probably it also is something easier to fix than the other examples so it probably will be adressed while the resto remain forever broken lol

Agreed but the reason this should be a priority over those is because of how recent it is. Since the other things haven't been fixed yet whose to say they ever will be? Better to address the problems that have a little more of a likelihood to be fixed, then kindly ask about the others.

The Body still appears too Long to me, but I agree about turning off/editing certain Animations can do wonders. I mean yes the animal has to bend down to drink, but the neck shouldn't look Broken like that. Also like I said the Body looks way too Long for a Black Rhino. The Reveal Pic was at an Angle so it looked amazing.

I don't think it's too long tbh, maybe just by just a hair but tbh I think most of it comes from just how round it is. Too much of a belly and too much fat around the neck. It's really throwing me and others off. I think if they reduced the fat a bit and raised the head properly a lot of other weird issues with it would fix themselves. This is a picture of one from my local zoo. It looks to be about the same length. Granted it's a southwestern subspecies and the in game seems to be eastern but that shouldn't matter in terms of the size just a slightly different head shape.

I've gotta admit that Size of the Head/Proportion to Body is a big factor for the body looking too long in the model, but even then it is still a tad bit longer than it should be (would actually look even slinkier if some belly fat was cut off). In the last picture you provided the Rhino is taking a step forward, so it gives the illusion the body is longer than it actually is. The 2nd front leg puts things into perspective. Really cool picture by the way!

In a way the biggest Proportional Problem at the moment appears to be the Size of the Head. It needs to be bigger. It will help with both the Body Length and Shoulder Hump issues, if not solve everything.

Yeah definitely something off about the model. Too much body mass under the neck and chest area and it almost seems that the head maybe too small. But maybe the posture being improved would fix the situation. It almost seems to be bits and pieces of a black rhino mixed with the white rhino. Like many have said great animal for the most part but definitely could use some tweaking.

Someone just pointed this out to me but we found another issue with the black rhinoceros. The one in game has tusks when in real life they don't. They have completely incorrect teeth in game.

Here's what a correct skull looks like and its teeth. No tusks...
