Fixed.....No sweat.

Hi all,

I finally opted for a vive about 3 weeks ago and i'm generally loving the experience. There are well known issues of course, mainly to do with the use of Fresnel lenses, like god rays and really bad colour aberration when viewing off centre. Frankly, ive seen better lenses on a 99p pair of binoculars. I cant wait for FD to sort their vive bits out, so that the galaxy map works better and changing the mirror screen to full screen doesn't revert back on its own.

Anyways, one annoyance is my Vive turning into a facial sauna after 10 minutes of wearing. Apart from anything else, this can steam the lenses up and for a glasses user like me, its even worse. steamy lenses make god rays worse BTW.

I have put together a simple solution to this steamy problem which works really well. No more steamed up glasses or lenses and no more sweaty face, even when the rest of me is sweaty.

How?, I hear you ask excitedly.

Simple. I have rigged up an old, small, aquarium air pump connected to a good length of black air line. this is (temporarily atm) zip tied to the vive umbilical cord and then (also temporarily) pushed behind the face mask foam at the top. The pump is a nice quiet one and only produces a small stream of air, but its enough to prevent steam or sweat from becoming a problem. Ive tried it over 2 nights and it works realy well. I was concerned that my eyes might dry as a side effect, but it seems that I have the flow just right and no dry eyes.

I shall continue to test it over a few more days, after which I will properly lace the airline to the umbilical cord and then try to find a better way of feeding the air into the face mask. Drilling is not an option for the next 2 years [sad]

I see a small fam been included in future models, only way to stop the lenses steaming up imo
