[FIXED] Odyssey has emptied Dav's Hope

FYI - just been out to check and confirm that Dav's Hope in Odyssey was empty of manufactured material drops. So either they have been removed, are spawning under the surface (not detected) or some shared respawn rate has been enacted.

EDIT: Odyssey now spawns the material drops again, issues with SRV sensor display (radar) icons misaligned but the site is productive again. (I should have made this edit long ago but didn't remember this post till someone tagged it today, sorry.)

Happily Dav's Hope still operates as normal in Horizons. (Looks better there too. ;) )

Respawning stuff in general has been nerfed into oblivion. Went to an Eagle crash site post patch 6, excited that I FINALLY found one and could maybe maybe get a power regulator. Had to log out though with my daughter demanding dinner, when I got back on the crash site was still there but all boxes were opened and emptied, even both power regulators (degraded or not, I'll never know) ejected and empty. Surprised, relogged thinking it might have been a bug, and was the same situation.

So if the only way of snagging power regulators is now raiding settlements for them, it's gonna take a LOOONG time to upgrade suits!

Either do missions preferably with faction which you have high REP with or take missions and just abort them at the cost of REP

OT:
Finally! This grind gameplay is good for nothing

This is the same dumb mechanic they use at settlements to prevent re-logging to respawn mats. If you actually need to log for a genuine reason - you log back in to an empty settlement, with no mats, no data, nothing.

However jumping to super-cruise is a workaround for this - you do this and it resets the settlement and all your goodies have respawned. Haven't tried it at a crash site or irregular markers etc yet though, but might be worth a go.

Never mind logging - I've had several crashes while in the middle of clearing bases with the intent of looting but of course coming back from that crash means the loot has now despawned, with the only item remaining worth collecting being the power reg. Sad case of people abusing the respawn leading to a nerf that disadvantages those who experience genuine situations where the loot should remain.

Yeah very true - a crash does the same thing unfortunately hence my description of a "dumb mechanic". It's FDevs thinking on a lot of things though - cut off the head to cure the headache, rather than focus on what is causing the headache i.e. very low spawn rates of certain mats which encourages relogging. Well why not fix that by giving Odyssey mats the same drop rates as Horizons i.e. 3 for each drop, getting rid of some useless mats altogether which serve no purpose, and providing a data trader.

Not to say Horizons is perfect of course - but it's better than what we have in Odyssey. You can somewhat target what you are looking for in Horizons - if I want a particular material I know where to go and what to look for and 99/100 I'll get what I need pretty quick. Odyssey is a wing and a prayer pretty much due to too much RNG.

I hate to break this to you but Dav's Hope was empty when I arrived, not relogged, just arrived, sc in system, OC to the Glide, Glide to the blackness (presumably to hide the rubbish planetary area), arrive at Dav's, land, deploy SRV - bu@@er-all to pick up. Relogging: the same, empty. The data port (periscope) works, though they have changed the model - looks meh.

They have introduced something, if you login when at settlement the settlement is cleared.
Its to revert relogging.

I had it earlier, landed at a settlement, front door goes.. I logged off, when to see people downstairs. When I logged in I was already at settlement, everywhere was clear all lockers and data ports

I've wanted them to remove relogging for a long time, however!!!! Only if they actually resolved the problem that encourages players to do it.

Otherwise, it's just making stuff take ages, what would happen ideally for me, is you go to Davs hope, and get enough mats to fully engineer a module then you're done, that's it, you got the stuff. Davs hope over.

Same with guardian sites, each site should unlock a module specific to that site (you could have overlaps, so five sites would all unlock the shard cannon for instance, so there isn't only one location to get it, in this case, if you already unlocked it, you get enough mats to synth twenty premium reloads)

But there would also be many many other places, some of which jus have actual modules you collect.

You should also be able to directly specify what materials you want from a mission giver, in order to do their job.

The general amount needed to mod stuff should be at the least, halved, and you should be able to scan systems for materials you are after, and drop into signal sources knowing what's in there (but maybe not knowing a pirate is going to drop in, or that the stuff is guarded by a federal convoy etc)

Scanning megaship data links (and ground data links, a d getting data from Odyssey settlements) should go e you the specific location of a cache of materials.

Stuff like this.

Remove the boring repetitive RNG, replace with the ability to choose your goals and focus on them through gameplay

Ah thats ok I don't use Dav's :)

Is this in Odyssey or Horizons? I am sure Horizons is still ok if you try there? Most busted things in Odyssey seem to still work fine in Horizons.

So, everybody who used Dav's Hope prior this change are all good to go with their maxed-out Engineering upgrades. In contrast, everybody who could have used Dav's Hope to help with the Engineering upgrades are now shlt-out-of-luck and will have an even steeper mountain to climb. What was good for the goose is no longer good for the gander.

you have forgotten to SC out and in again AFTER your arrival to reset the settlement followed by a simple relogski with your alt - but just in open(!!) - before you strg-f4 the client (and now you have to be real quick!) to restart completely with your main.
After that grab what you can and hope not to crash, otherwise...

You always asked for skill based gameplay!
You wanted risk reward experiences!
Now git gud to grind!
;)
