"Fixed POIs spawning all over the galaxy."

This is in the notes for Update 3.

  • Fixed POIs spawning all over the galaxy.

Anyone seeing any differences? I was out behind Barnard's Loop after the patch dropped. After it dropped and as I was on my way back to the Bubble, I scanned/mapped a few bodies. I was focusing on discovered, but unmapped, bodies as they are easier to find in that area than completely undiscovered systems. I didn't see any structures but there were distress beacons all over the place. Some bodies have 5-6 distress beacons attached to them. Is it still broken and I'm just getting DB v. other POIs due to RNG? Is it, slightly, fixed and now only spawning DBs?

One step forward, two steps back.

Strangely, for me the issue was fixed a week prior Update 3 (?)

Before that (25500LY out) I saw 4-9 POIs on most planets I mapped - afterwards it ceased to happen and I haven't seen a human POI ever since.
So in a (weird) way, Patch 3 didn't actually change anything for me and I assumed some hotfix had this patched already (?)

I can only assume some hotfix at that time already had this distance out govern the spawn rate while anything closer to the bubble was still plastered with POIs.

You're just too close to inhabitated space to never see random POIs.
They actually deactivated out in the black POIs a week ago but only mentioned it in yesterdays patch notes.

Yeah, I considered that it might be a proximity thing too. Good to read that it's being/been cleared up. I think OD might be far enough along for me to head a bit further out.

Uh ohhh...

Not as bad as all the buildings but, still...

EDIT: He just happens to have 6 there too. I wonder if this has to do with the old geo signals. I noticed, on ED:O release, that these POIs, seemed to spawn in places that used to be geological sites. I thought it was just co-incedence. Now, I'm wondering if they are some kind of place-holder the Devs haven't, fully, figured out how to hide yet.

He doesn't mean Horizons only apparently...

But I have mapped a few planets over 20 Kylies from the nearest civilisation and I've not seen any.

Yup, yup, I was a little confused about that too. My link was directly to Rat Catcher' post though. ...basically what I was seeing but much further out. This is all just observations, really. FDEV admitted it was broken and is working on it so...

Yeah, my own experience is a bit like Falcon Fly's in that I stopped noticing them a little while before the patch with the fix listed in it dropped. Rat Catcher's post does throw an interesting light on it, but I'll keep checking and see if I spot any :)

So how far is enough that you don't get litter? I'm in a system >500 ly from the nearest inhabited system, and every landable body, aside from the very tiniest has 2 to 10 or more distress beacons and minor wreckage on it. I've picked up 20 escape pods, but that's just because I only have 20 cargo space. I could probably get 200 of them, if I wanted to get into gun battles with the drones that are patrolling the vast majority of these crash sites.

Before this patch I was about 1500 light years from inhabitated space when distress beacons stopped spawning, after that it were just the default random crashed ships, power sources and artificial structures. So I'd say the POI radius after this patch is most likely still about 1500 light years.

I had started seeing less human POIs (sometimes even nothing) a few days before the patch.
I haven't had much time to play in the past couple of days, but I have seen a meaningful decrease of manmade clutter out in the black and that's a positive!

On the other hand, I have started finding some Nonhuman signatures and POIs on some planets now, and that's more in line with my exploratory mood!
