Fixing reputation ?

Hi all,

I interdicted a ship with valuable cargo, so decided to kill him and steal it (as you do !). I got a fine for murdering him then 2 system security vessels turned up and attacked me, so I had to kill those too. As a result my reputation with the Federation is now "Hostile".

I don't want to stay hostile, so have been doing loads of missions to rebuild reputation. I must have done 30, but the reputation isn't improving. I've got my rep in the local system back to unfriendly, so I don't get attacked on sight automatically any more, but can anyone help with the bigger picture of Federation rep ?

I'd have thought that once the local system was ok with you so would the Federation...

IDK how to "fix" it. Apparently murder and robbery is frowned upon by the Feds and not lightly forgiven, as it should be.

Sure, I understand why they became hostile, but I would have thought it would be possible to fix the reputation.

Last week I was on "friendly" terms with one system, but after not playing for a couple of days I was back to "neutral", so maybe time is the healer rather than spending thousands and thousands of credits on donating goods to try to repair.

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this situation...
