Newcomer / Intro Fixing the game?

is there supposedly more content coming to the game? future patches fixing all of the broken stuff?
Any actual NPC interaction?
Any way to make money other than killing bad people, scraping rocks, or scanning space and selling the info?

Any way to avoid the authorities since they're obviously dysfunctional and impossible to play around?

Other than an excessively vast and beautiful universe with nice music, there just isn't much to do?
I mean, obviously there are some, but the current bugs in the game makes it impossible to play normally.

I have no idea what game you are playing but it doesn't sound like the one I have got. Its not perfect true but I wouldn't class it as bugged.

How is it impossible to play normally? Not my experience at all. What is normal to you?

Good point, what is normal?

OP, I'll bite.

Frontier have been very proactive with patches, I have faith that they will continue to do so. This week may be a bit slow due to the holidays though.

You can find 100's of threads on this forum and Dangerous Discussion with people saying they are interdicted to often by NPC's, so I guess their interaction level is a matter of opinion.

If Bounty Hunting, Assassinations, Mining, or Exploring aren't doing t for you, you could always try trading or pirating.

4th questions a bit vague. I'm assuming you are talking about accidentally shooting authorities. If that's the case, either hunt in Anarchy systems or be aware of where they are when your dogfighting.

Question 5 seems more like an opinion than a question, I can't help you with that.

Have fun out there. If your not liking it now, maybe put it up for a few weeks and check back once the devs have had a chance to tweak it a bit more.

They have talked about the launch being just the beginning and have many things planned for DLC such as planetary landings and getting out of your ship etc.

It will be very exciting to see how this game will progress over the years as it is already fantastic.

Let me just go ahead and copy/paste something I replied to another person who's frustrated with the bugs.

I've attacked a wanted criminal, and security attacked me as well, no fine or anything.
I've attacked a wanted criminal and gotten a fine from nearby security for doing so.
I've been under attack by security without provoking them, and gotten a fine for defending myself.
I've been attacked by criminals who somehow maintain their "clean" status after attempting to take my goods or for killing their criminal friend, and therefore I'm a criminal for defending.
I've been attacked for having goods on me that aren't illegal, but are somehow "stolen" because I found them floating around in the vastness of space slowly deteriorating with no one to claim them.
I've found that I was fined without remembering gaining a fine.
I've paid off my fine, and then find out later that it's come back on it's own.
I've paid off my fine and the wanted status doesn't change.
I've paid off my fine and then been shot to death on my way out the station for being a criminal.

And the most frustrating thing of all, is that every time I attack a criminal with a security nearby, he ALWAYS finds a way to fly straight through my bullets.
Straight through my bullets! From off screen, where I can't see them, flying straight into my line of fire for no reason at all, with not enough reaction time to stop firing.
Oh and so naturally since the security guy is suicidal, I'm a criminal and he should now try to kill me.
IT NEVER FAILS.

David Braben has described what we have now as an empty house. Now it is time to start moving stuff in. I'm not expecting a huge great removal van to turn up and do it all at once, more like the odd parcel arriving containing something small and every now and then a white van appears with a new fridge or bedroom set. Slowly the house will be filled with nice things that will be the envy of the neighbours.

OK. The police flying through your line of sight is annoying but not bugged. It just requires some care to make sure you're clear before unloading on the perp. If you get fined for tagging the police, don't fight back - just head off to a nearby station and clear your fine. If you've picked up a Wanted status, I recommend finding an Outpost to land at since security is generally much more lax there, and you won't get shot at on the way in. 'Defending' yourself against the police doesn't tend to work too well in real life or in-game. :)

Never attack a ship unless a) you've scanned it first and confirmed it's Wanted or b) it's landed a shot on you. Also, ships that turn red on your scanner will not automatically attack. I know it's tempting to see red as a threat and get in a pre-emptive strike but don't. I've been at many a Nav Beacon, with red ships on the scanner after shooting up one of their mates. They don't attack, I don't attack, everyone's happy, including the police.

Free floating stolen goods. Again, annoying (I agree that it would be nice to have a proper salvage system), but not bugged. Check the bulletin boards - all the 'salvage' missions are classed as illegal activities.

Apologies if you're doing this already and things aren't working as they should. I can only go on my own experience, which is that the game doesn't seem to be bugged, but you definitely need to be careful about a couple of things to avoid running afoul of the law.

Evidently you are doing SOMETHING wrong to lead to all this.

First thing....scan the ship you are targeting. Don't go in, guns blazing & shoot at the first ship you see. That's not the way the game works. Scan it...and if he's wanted, deploy your weapons...but don't fire just yet!! Take note of his "skill". Is he deadly? Dangerous? ELITE? If so...be cautious. Work your way up to these guys.
But don't fire just yet!!
Check his bounty. Rarely will I go after anyone less then 1,000cr. Not worth getting shot up over anything less than that.
But don't fire just yet!!
Check his faction & the the security' faction. If you are taking out a wanted pirate, the security may have his back. Happened to me when I got greedy & started shooting at a pirate with a 33,000cr bounty on his head! I put a hurting on him before I had to make a hasty retreat when I found out the security police were the same faction as him.
Also...check your fire!! If a security ship flies between you & your target and you hit him, you've just earned a nice fine and a pretty little RED "WANTED" graphic over your heat signature. Be aware of what is flying in & out of your line of fire.

As for flying straight through your bullets...not possible. You are not hitting him. You are leaving out a lot of information for us to make a good determination of what to tell you.
1. How far is he? As a rule of thumb, and to make sure my shots count...for cannons I try to NOT shoot farther then 1km.
2. What weapon are you using?
3. Are his shields down? Cannons don't do well with shields up. You need an energy weapon to take down his shields. Cannons will tear up a hull quite quickly.
4. What kind of aiming are you using? Trailing? Lead?

If the game is frustrating you...step back & think about what you are doing wrong. I thought I was going to drop into this game & pick it right up because I've been playing games of this sort of years! ***<<BUZZER!!>>*** Wrong answer, Flyboy!! The game mechanics are different then any I've experienced. You are going to need to figure them out by playing & playing cautiously until you figure it out.

The game is working fine for a majority of the players. I'm not coming down on you but it is you that's doing something wrong.

Provide us with more detail and we can probably offer you better advice.

Good luck & trust me when I say this....you WILL get the hang of this then think, "Why was I making this out to be so hard?"
