Flak Turret required - Panther Clipper

I'm sure I'm not the only Commander waiting to get their grubby mitts on a Panther Clipper. what was one of the biggest playable ships in Elite.

I still daydream of owning one and re-living the past.

Fingers crossed when it arrives it will all that it should be, with those ridiculous shields that struck fear into any asteroid. Those turrets that took care of fighters like an electric fly swatter, for those that don't know, the Panther Clipper handled like a barge and so it should! So those turrets were it's only defense against pirates.

So.. Flak... Looking at all the nimble fighters out there I'm expecting an anti fighter turret weapon of some description, thinking flak would be ideal but no weapons like that are in the game yet, I think the Type 9 should be able to fit smaller ones too!

It was also annoying when a pirate turned up in one, as they usally had a plasma accellerator. At this point you just hoped they didnt get a shot that landed, or you'd be digging out the latest save.

But the pantha clipper was also good at winning simply by being a flying brick

Not had a big ship for some time - since I started exploring, however I did have some turrets on a Anaconda, they seemed quite weak in power and wobbled all round the target... things may have changed since then.

Yes! those pointy things on the front are weapons! A hit with the main plasma accelerator = Insta death haha what a weapon that was!

I like the idea of flak turrets. Throwing out a steam of HE flak. Plastering and obscuring general areas with debris, gas and explosions. Just the visuals would be worth it

you're aware that flak actually means a high explosive charge set to detonate at a specific height, causing shrapnel damage in its vicinity? That sounds remarkably useless in space against shields.

As for shields. Having fun here. Mix in shield stripping lasers and bingo.

Edit: @quineloe - oh I'm not saying arcade. Just saying its a game. It might be attempting to simulate things, but for me its a game and should be fun. Which it is.

Yeah, I think the Panther Clipper Deserves a spectacular show of defense, would be beautiful and deadly all in the same light show!

Exploding balls of plasma would be awesome to watch!
