Flash red triangle with ! ??

This has appeared on my screen recently. Some sort of warning, not sure what it is or how or if I can access it.

Appreciate some information from anyone who knows.

Probably coupled with the 'Slow Down' warning you have on the HUD.

May be an additional visual warning that something is wrong! Look down and see that you are going to fast.

Its an alert warning
You have a big SLOW DOWN above your Radar, so the exclamation mark is there
Its there for any warning or proximity alarm etc

It also shows if you re in a hostile system or there are any hostiles. Useful!!

I don't understand what I could have done to be wanted.

I paid all fines.

I don't have any weapons so haven't attacked anyone.

I seem to be hostile to a number of groups, including the Federation.

I even allowed myself to be destroyed thinking that would clear things, but no, exactly the same.

Any ideas?

You are about to be interdicted as the target is red on the radar and you are in SC. Must be trying to lock by at the wrong angle.

It doesn't say "WANTED" in place of your ship visibility indicator so I would say it's not that

There's a hostile npc, that's why you're getting the warning indicator.

The warning sign is always there when there is a red contact on the scanner.

Think this is because you are close to a planet/star, i'm an explorer and i get this all the time while scanning things and flying close by planets.
Edit± The triangle is the hostile ship.

your hazard lights is on. turn them off by pressing the triangle button in the middle of your dashboard or on the turn signal lever somewhere.

You're not wanted, you're not attacked (you're in supercruise), you just have a new notification in "info tab".

+1 that little alert comes up everytime something new flashes in the right hand side of the hud there - yours says something like "you have 1 new contact"

Basically it's a general caution sign: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warning_sign#General_caution

It means that something requires your attention.

I found a system with Two Fed stations and one indi.

Sometimes I was able to land at the indi and no bounties or fines were listed. Others, while I was accepted for landing, the security scan blocked be and the landing pad wouldn't accept my ship.

At both the Fed stations, I was attacked on approach.
